    Any thoughts on this pedal?

Pete Thorn gives a good demo on what it can do. It pairs well with a marshall and has some hair. I built a clone and it's note bad, depending what you're trying to achieve with it. It's not high gain by any means but isn't trying to be.

That's cool that you are able to build clones like that, did you find a schematic on the Golden Pearl to go by?
I love my MXR M-77, but it actually has more than enough gain, but it has the best voice of any OD I've had ,so it dethrones everything pretty fast.
I only use OD pedals to push an already overdriven amp, never on a clean channel, and
hoping the lower gain, and voice of the GP will make it worth keeping.

Sometimes I just like to build simpler stuff myself to customize it to my tastes. I get various pcbs from pedalpcb, including that project. But usually he includes the schematic if you wanna vero or etch something which is more work than I personally like.

A clean boost, or mild OD with a bit of Friedman mojo. I think it's hard to go wrong if that's what one is after.
Compared to the MXR M-77 it's holding it's own and then some.
I've searched a long time to try and dethrone the CBAMOD , but need some more testing time, as I only played it for about 30 mins.
Man does the GP have tons of volume for a OD, literally can slam the front end like no pedal I've had before, and you can have as much , or little compression as you want with a dirty amp, which is what I use OD's for.
Suprised there isn't much talk about this pedal, guess it kinda slipped under the radar, with all the BE-OD stuff, but they are two totally different animals.

I agree with your assessment. Glad it's working out for you.
