As a fan and player of classic rock and metal for over 40 years, I'm a big fan of KLPX-FM in Tucson. Great rock station with a huge variety and good on-air talent. Been listening since the early 90's.

Yup....I read years ago on the web, that there are 3 studios, all connected; in Texas that syndicate about 90+ percent of all programming...1 studio for each genre...I don't remember what they are, but they aren't Rock. 3!

I've been listening to a bit of FM, but to VHF and UHF bands :naughty:
Haven't listened to commercial FM broadcasts in years

Drove across 7 States in America last year and found a lot of good rock stations along the way. Now I’m back in Australia I listen to them all on iHeartRadio.

Check out iHeartRadio, heaps of stuff on there.

    Peace

it used to be that way. maybe I need to get out more as it's been a while since I've listened to radio in different cities but why do college stations always seem to have good music? simple-NO PLAYLIST or a minimal one!

out that way, KUOR used to play good music but again, it's a college station and may or may not have a large coverage area. I was able to hear it loud & clear in Moreno Valley when I briefly lived there.

If you weren’t in St. Louis, MO in 1967, you missed it all. The first FM rock station in the nation. Dropped the needle on full albums with hardly any breaks for sponsors in between.

KNAC rocked and was great while it lasted. if you liked metal, that was your ticket. I think they may still have a presence online.

That’s the same thing I have heard.
My buddy John still lives here, but I have not played with him in a couple of years.
So where are you now ??

I can't do FM anymore except for Rush Limbaugh or the local classic rock station. For music I go to Pandora or Sirius on my phone. With Pandora throwing them less then $10 a month is worth every penny. No ads and unlimited skips and likes.

the 805 aka Ventura County. and I get a better selection of music on my cable system than I do on FM radio plus no ads. I know Sirius is an option but I think paying for radio is wrong. but we said the same about cable TV back when.

a few of my cable radio "stations" if they can be called that aren't bad-a hell of a lot better than a steady diet of KLOS or JACK-FM anyway. I don't do much streaming but maybe it's time to start doing more.
