You do not need the standby. The GZ34 will give a nice soft start.

At home, I play with the tone stack at these settings because it helps tame some of the volume. At a gig, the volume becomes substantial with any of those knobs raised especially when using a pick. Volume 7-8 is the sweet spot of this baby, and I usually adjust the treble and middle to taste depending on the gig.

The cabinet should be done in a couple weeks.

It is alright! I decided to spray paint it white. I found white ones, but I would have to order 100 of them to do anything.

Does anyone happen to know how to take the center screw off a Celestion Blue holding the bell cover on? It is very difficult to turn.

Also, does anyone know who has the best vintage correct gold tadpole?

The screw has a dab of loctite!

Gold tadpole - the stuff that goes round the head cab front panel is available from Marshall and their dealers but it is a bit paler than the original. The Marshall supplied gold string is very green but the correct diameter. The North Coast Music stuff is the right colour but slightly slimmer.

Thank You Again Neikeel! You have saved the day again! Some of my research has told me to heat the screw up first with a soldering iron, but do you happen to know of any methods to get it moving? I almost stripped it trying to remove it with force.

Afraid you will need acetone to soak and soften or heat.

It was a real pain trying to get the bell cover off of this Celestion Blue as the screw was indeed stuck with Loctite, and I had to soak it in Acetone to even get the screw to budge with a very long screwdriver from Home Depot. At least I can start painting it now. Although not correct, I will be going for a silver hammer finish on it.

The cabinet is finished, but I don’t want to share until it is completely done.

This is a Celestion T652 Reissue, and they are very expensive used. After having done this, I am now 100% convinced the T652 Reissues are literally just Celestion Blues painted silver.

Working on the making my own speaker labels, and before I used to think the original T652 labels from the 60's were gold, but no, they were clear and have aged to that gold color/colour. The photograph is from and by BygoneTones.

The silver hammer finish has been applied. It came out beautifully.

I had to make the labels custom as the available stickers such as the eBay ones are closer to the reissue T652 label rather than the vintage originals.

Funnily enough marshall have finally sorted out their ‘green’ string, I bought some last month, it’s pretty close to the vintage stuff colour wise now!

Very nice. How did you make them? I’ve only seen the eBay/Reverb repros in listing. Never had need of them myself.
