is anyone still playing these, or is everyone selling them off? Just curious.
Never played the amp, but fond of the cab. I think I would rather the 100 Watt head or a Stealth vs. the 50; but that's just me.
Some days I love it. Some days I hate it. Anyone else have this experience?
I love my 5150 III 50w. I gig with it and it's never failed me. I have a JCM2000 TSL and the stupid foot switch failed me twice at a gig so it stays in my home studio. As for the 5150 III 50w...never leave home without it.
Do you use the matching 2x12?
I liked mine but it was too compressed, even with lower gain on channel 3. Lost some punch due to high compression. IMO
excellent amp.. mine is the 100 watt head.
its a high gain monster so no need to crank the gains. my 100 watt with the gain at 9 oclock has tons of gain with low compresson.
I've got the 50 with a Jet City USA 1x12 with V30. Best sound I've had and versatile. 3 ch, MIDI and small enough to be portable and loud enough to hang with the big boys.
This is me with almost every high gain amp I've ever owned.
At first, they "wow" you with blistering gain saturation and sustain, but then you start to notice what they are missing...
I don't run mine with high gain, ch 2 usually at 11 o clock and ch 3 when used is about 1. What I have noticed with this one is the individual notes all ring out and if you've got slop it's gonna show.
I still love my 50w with the 4x12, no reason to sell it.
