Ok guys thinking about a speaker for my little dsl combo. The EVH 20 celestion sounds interesting . How does it compare to reissue greenbacks g12m25 and original pre rola g12m25?? I had a 1960ax cab with reissues and it was ok but a bit bright and hashy in the highs.....also had a 1969 1960b cab with pre rola greenbacks which was warm and smooth sounding(desperate times when I sold that...ugh)....anyway how does the evh 20w compare??

I had a DSL15 for a while and I really liked an old G12H30 with 55hz cone, T1281 Greenback. At 30 watts, I didn't worry about maxing the volume.

Personally, I wasn't too happy with the Heritage/EVH G12M's and I preferred the Reissue G12M's.

I'm staying away from the g12h30....causr of it sensitivity...i can hit the sweet spot on the mv right now at stage volume..... adding 3db sensitivity it'll be too loud and I'll have to back the vol down.
What made you prefer the ri g12m25 over the heritage or evh I know I all ways preferred my pre rola cab over my ri cab in the past.

EVH 20w's are the same as the Heritage G12M's. They are actually 25w's too just labeled that way for historical purposes, they are smoother than the standard Greenbacks..

I thought the Heritage/EVH was too compressed sounding, not near as open as the reissues. And I got more fizz on the top end, also.
I have replaced my G12C's in my 425A with 90's GBs and that seems to work for me.

Smoother would be more my ballpark.....may give the evh a chance.
Right now the amp has a g12e60.....and it's a bit papery sounding....if that makes sense....ok but a bit thin and hashy

Hey how's it going? Question for you please: I'm thinking about putting a G12M out of a Vox cab into my Origin 20C, maybe get the 10" spkr out... I'm a novice, any advice on that speaker in that amp? Will it still breakup etc? don't wanna lose that tone. Is it a waste of time? Thanks so much!!

If you like the tone you have. Don't mess with it.
