Saw a teardown video and basically the DSL40CR and the 100HR use the same mainboard but the 40CR is is missing the 4th set of tubes. I don't have access to a 100HR to do a full comparison myself.

Has anybody ever looked at this closer and is it possible to populate the DSL40CR with the missing components to make it 100W?

Even if you could I cant see it being cost effective …… if you were lucky enough to change out the stuff ( top secret schematics aside ) … one slip and the traces on the board are toast …… everything is wave soldered and microscopic …… go buy 3 DSL100Hs for the same $
    JMHO ……YMMV

You'd need to add all the necessary components, change the PT and OT and then probably change a few other components.

    Cheaper to buy a 100W...

Better question where are the 300$ dsl40c’s? The lowest I see them is 450$, and that’s not very often, but then again I am not looking for one either! Cheers Mitch

Even if its possible, why? Just buy a 100 W DSL. If you want a 100 W combo then have a combo cab made for around 350.00 from Sourmash or Mojotone to pop it in.

Isn't there a product out there called a " Torpedo " or something....I think it's called,a re amper or something which can convert your 40 watts to 100 watts?

The OP is definitely going against the grain, he wants more watts not less.

    Yep, a Bad Cat Unleash.
I have to mirror the above. it's more than adding a couple tubes as mentioned. PT, OT and likely some other components all on a microscopicly detailed PCB. Not to mention at least 100 watts of speaker if one is keeping it as a combo.

With a reamper you get an attenuator plus a digital 2 channel 100 watt amp that uses the power signal from the tube amp.

Ive railed against modding marshalls in other threads. In this case i think he should do it. I want to see what happens.

I didn't give a "like", because I'm not sure I like the idea.............. but the resulting thread would be entertaining.
