Hello Chandler,

I would be interested to hear some sound clips, stock vs V types. I have just purchased this amp.

Thank you
Hi,

Here’s a link to a YouTube short.

I’ve since swapped the Vs for greenbacks so the Vs are up for sale being only 1 day old lol. They are amazing and a massive improvement in the stock but I should have gone strait for the greens as I prefer them more.

Cheers fella. This clip shows stock and V types. I’ll do another clip with Greens in later. I’ve noticed the presence control has a massive effect with greenbacks compared to either of these two 🤘

Guitar Guitar do have some great deals. I use them for most of my guitar related and Marshall stuff as I love me some Next Day Delivery too.
Have a Boss TU3W coming today hopefully.
I see these DSL 402 Combos come with OEM Speakers. Are these Marshalls own brand made by Marshall?
I usually prefer V Type or GreenBacks so not tried OEM.

Looking for something I don't remember what.

The speakers are 2 x 4ohm Marshall SPKR 00113, probably made by Eminence. They are a light magnet 25w speaker wired in series in the amp. As usual some like them and some don't. I like my Marshall tone through Greenbacks, so that's what went in mine. I've since bought another at the blowout price and have put 2 x G12H-30 Anniversaries in. They also are great sounding speakers in this amp. This affects the weight though, so just be wary of that. If you are going to gig it regularly, it may be worth leaving the stock speakers in and compromising on the tone.

Here's a link to another thread where I've recorded a cover of the Rival Sons tune "Shooting Stars". I used my original 402 with the two G12C Greenbacks for all of the guitar parts. My daughter did the vocals for me.

Brilliant. Thank you Chandler76. I like both sounds.

I will upload a clip of my Marshall DSL 402 when I get chance with the OEM stock speakers.

Thank you.

Would be good to see. I’ll try to get a nice bit of rock recorded with the greenbacks and EQ with the Archer Ikon as I think it sounds Lush.

Sounds great @Georgiatec, and your daughters voice is wonderful,… her voice has a slight resemblance to Janice Joplin!

One thing for sure in all these clips, to my ears, there’s no mistaken that tone is a Dsl. It has that compressed, almost buzzy sound.

You can hook up a dozen crummy speakers to the DSL and it will not sound good.
The DSL is not going to sond good unless
YOU GIVE A GREAT SPEAKER TO DRIVE.
CREAMBACKS... ALL THE WAY!

The sale looks like it has come to an end. It really was a limited edition. I wish I had bought four.

Not wanting to Hijack the thread. (It seems expired anyway)
I want to ask a common question but I want it verified here.

I want more clean headroom out of the DSL402.
Is having a boost in the Loop a good idea?

Thanks.

A boost in the loop will give you more gain as well as volume. Clean headroom will be best with one of the master volumes way up and then bring the gain on the clean channel in until you like what you hear. Full power mode will be best. You can also turn the volume of your guitar down to good effect. All those cleaner Hendrix tones you hear (Wind Cries, Little Wing etc.) were made from a cranked Plexi with the guitar volume very low.
