Happy Friday!

Quick question that I know been answered before but don't remember what the right answer is...

Can I pug an 8 ohm extension speaker cab (Avatar 2x12) into my amp while still using its16 ohm speaker?

Thanks! I have gig tonight and would like to do this if possible. If not, I'll just use the 2x12 and dis-connect the combo's speaker.

I thinks it's a yes?

Obviously not recommended, but I think that can be done with the 5 speaker jack amps.
I don't have one of these amps, and have never personally done this.
I could be wrong, but IIRC it works like this.
The internal 16ohm into one of the 1x8/2x16 jacks.
The extension 8ohm into one of the 1x4/2x8 ohm jacks.
1/2 load on each tap = full load on OT.

Big yes, been discussed and confirmed few times on the forum. I use a 2x12 8ohm cab along with the internal 16ohm speaker, just like @fitz288 suggested: the 8 ohm speaker/cab goes into 1x4/2x8ohm inputs - half load - and the internal 16 one into one of the 1x8/2x16ohm inputs, this is the other 1/2 load.
