Asking for a friend.
The size and pick ups affect me relationship with a guitar more.
I wanted/lusted for a Gretsch White Falcon for 50 + years.
I love it but the 17" body takes getting used to.
I think the guitar amp combo dictate what I play more than the colour. But then I'm colour confused (not legally colour blind, but colour blind enough to restrict work I can do)
strat, tele, super strat, 335, etc are the things that affect my playing or what i play.
LIFE affects my mood the most to pick which guitar i play
i believe in the right tool for the job.
Now that you mention it, my black SG does sometimes make me feel a little... devilish.
My faded SG makes me seek my inner Iommi.
My V makes me think of the Schenker brothers, the LP’s just make me want to play, regardless of color !!
May not be be what Vin asked, but that’s my answer..
Bought a First Act Adam Levine signature guitar in white, and I totally sucked.
So I bought a red Epiphone SG, and somehow I sounded even worse.
So then I splurged and bought a black Gibson SG, and wow do I sound awful.
- So yeah, color is clearly the defining variable...
just go get ya a clear Dan Armstrong guiar. your talents will be very transparent from there forward.
That's why I bought the black SG; I was hoping none of my talents whatsoever would show through.
No. Since all my guitars are in finishes I like, that wouldn't be a concern.
Pick choice makes a LOT more difference than color of the guitar.
my mood usually has more to do w/ the guitar I pick, not the other way around...
I didn't say "adversely" effect. The effect could be a good thing.
I do not like fruit loop colors like light green, blue, turquoise. That turns me off.
Why do you turn your guitar picks the other way around?
I like the larger round vertexes versus the pointier one.
I take turns with my Les Paul's and use one for the week and switch the following week . They are all sunburst in the different shades , except for my Les Paul Custom which is Black .
I'm the same way. I have my bullpen and have a rotation every week and a half or so. But the guitar of the week does effect my state of mind when I play. Its the shape not the color that conjures the mood for me. I look at them and think, "Jackson=Metallica/Megadeath, SG=AC/DC, Strat= ... well, just about anything that comes to mind!"
+1, this, exactly.
And - my mood affects the amp I fire up.
Im simple man, I only have black, white, red, and these colours mixed.
I like these colours and I want silver one to add to my arsenal.
