This has been bugging me recently. I remember reading somewhere that Angus had a 350w head custom made by Marshall at some point in the 70's. I can't find the original article, so I don't have a source to quote. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?
i think i read or heard of a 200 watt head idk maybe it was 400 ,like long ago ,and it wasn't practical for some reason ,heat maybe ,needed too much room .had like 8 tubes or something ridiculous like that . hey never too loud what kind of guitar is that?
Those numbers make more sense, it was a few years so that may be more accurate. . The guitar is an epi korina explorer from a limited run they did up untill the new line I think
That's a pretty cool amp, but I'm pretty sure it was custom made for him. Thanks for sharing though, thats some really cool information!
if you search the web for that model, Angus & Malcolm's names get used in the discussion... reportedly, the 250w model was 250 clean & estimated 375w cranked...
Thar are a few prototypes out thar . 100 watts is the limit for tubes amps .when you go over 4 power tubes you can get a lot of cross talk .
I recall seeing one once that I think belonged to the guy from Accept. I've seen pics of it over the years but I can't find them now. Imagine the heat coming off of one of those ?
I've seen a few roll by on ebay over the years so it isn't a one off, but they are rare, so I would guess very limited production. I think they made a bass version as well, which seems even rarer..and iirc a version that's just a preamp.
from what I gather, they produced about 100 of them. I read that they were problematic. (edit) in the TGP link, someone says that they made 83... Any info on Marshall 200w Model 2000 Lead Amp? *NOT JCM2000*

I heard that they were made for the back in black tour, Marshall did a limited run to make the tooling worthwhile. if I get any more info I’ll add it here
