What's the coolest goodie you've taken home from a show? I love concert / band t-shirts, so if I go to a show, there's a near certainty that I'm taking home a t-shirt w/me ... but the coolest thing I've ever taken home from a show was a guitar pick tossed out into the audience from Mick Mars. Was one of several he tossed out during the solo of their "farewell tour" in 2015 (this particular show was in Brooklyn). I've never even played a single note w/it ... but I think I should I think the second coolest (ok, upon 2nd though, this might actually be cooler) thing I took home w/me was when I went to see Les Paul play at the Iridium in NYC ... yes, took home a cool t-shirt, but also took home some photos that my at the time GF took of me when I got to meet Les Paul after the show (I guess that was a thing he'd do). I was last in line, so I got a few extra minutes w/him. Have a number photos of the two of us shaking hands, embraced in a hug, leaning into each other to talk (like talking into the ear close) ... dude didn't know me, yet treated me like a friend he'd known for years. He did that w/everyone in line. A true gentleman.
IDK, for me, it's the memories... I've been lucky to see many bands & under extraordinary circumstances. A lot of free shows, a lot of shows, where I was treated like royalty, etc. I think you've seen my Iron Maiden thread, right? I took that for granted, & probably still do, when I get to go to some special gigs as a guest, in many cases...
I got a pick when o saw Lit in Mission Beach, SD. Still use it to this day! Doesn’t make me play any better tho
These are the most notable but also basic stuff. Not to mention awesome memories. Front row open field Iron Maiden at small venue got to see Blind Melon front row open field as well, what a privilege on that one. 2 t-shirts from the 1st Monsters of Rock tour 1988 (turned to dust) T-shirts from the Maiden Somewhere on Tour, 7th Tour and No Prayer on The Road tours. (turned to dust) T-shirt from Pink Floyd Division Bell tour (friend borrowed and "lost") Plastic Pink Floyd beer cup from Division Bell tour (still have) Wall poster from Division Bell tour (no longer have) Giant wall poster from Rolling Stones VooDoo Lounge tour (still have) t-shirts from Rolling Stones Voodoo lounge and Bridges to Babylon tours. (VD's 1 turned to dust & one was worn once or twice and still have, the BTB never worn and still have) T-shirt's from Metallica Master of Puppets and AJFA (turned to dust) t-shirts Megadeth Wake Up Dead and Count Down (turned to dust) A pic with Clarence Carter (private concert) EDIT: GNR's 1st tour I got the Bullet tshirt with the Gns N Rosses Was Here on the back. (turned to dust. FYI Turned to dust means I wore them so much they litteraly fell apart like toilet paper.
Finding out Van Halen was the absolute worst sounding live band on earth (1985) and that Eddie played the solo to “Jump” on the keys.
The best ever for MD was many years ago. It was my second year in college and me and some Buddies went to see Bon Jovi. We were on the floor and made our way up to the front and it was packed, tight. There was a group of chics in front of us and in short, the more we got pushed into them from people behind us the harder they pushed back and then after a while the one in front to me looked back at me at smiled as she pushed her ass into my crotch...she was a cute looking Italian chic. Then a few minutes later she grab my boy and kept rubbing him...through my jeans obviously. After a couple songs she grabbed my hand, pulled it around and shoved it up between her legs right up under her denim skirt where is stayed for a few songs. Yes, we were all drinking and no nothing more happened. So for MD, the best thing he EVER brought back from a concert was a nice wet finger...there are some things I will never forget and that is one...Dam!!!
I have many guitar picks from a lot of different shows. The coolest thing I have though is my autographed drumhead from the band Down. I got it back in 2002 when Rex was still in the band.
Other than T-shirts, the coolest thing I ever brought home from a concert was a program from Rush's 1978 Hemispheres tour. Wish I could find it.
I got a pick from John Petrucci when I saw Dream Theater back in 2017. The guy in front of me got a drum stick and I was really salty about it since I wanted a stick or two, but luckily I got a pick!
All I have are a few guitar picks I obtained after a few shows that were used by Ted Nugent, Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins. Me thinks they are neat Oh, a t-shirt from Ozzy, Bark At The Moon with signed album and guest pass!!
Always t shirts. Have rafts of those. Pictures and video I have taken at shows, lots of Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick) picks! I have some well timed pictures that I really like, these days it is hard to get a real camera in to shows, oddly, even though the whole world has cell phones there. Some cool video too. And, from one of my first real concerts. Had a terribly crappy camera!
