SO I have heard that this is THE stuff. I have some cheap wick at the moment and it is not an enjoyable experience.

I am going to order some Chemtronics but am looking for some advice as to which exact version I should get for basic amp and pedal use. Thanks.

I prefer solder suckers over solder wick any day. Why, you dont have to heat the eyelet and trace as much which can cause damage. Just an FYI!

Which solder wick depends on the size of the job.
Generally I use 2-3mm but they make larger sizes for bigger jobs.

New tip on a nice Hakko iron. This is literally some cheap $2 junk. I do not think there is rosin in it.

i buy the cheap stuff. less than a buck per thing. as long as it's shiny i have a tub of flux from ten years ago to dip it in
that being said I've saved the empty container of techspray pro wick to add to the next order i place with someone who carries it

I learned a trick to sorta drag some wick thru my tin of flux- makes it work 10x better.
Wick is better for cleaning up shitty globs of solder on old pots (sometimes) and supposedly preferred for using on printed boards which I don't ever plan on doing, but it could happen.
