I have a chance to buy it, just wondering if anyone can shed some light on it, I believe it's from the early 1980's.

Its a good looking cab, I wonder if its ply or mdf, I wonder what speakers are in it. Looking at those big dust caps and wattage it must be G12-65's and age should be ply. Open it up to see, if its a good deal buy it! Also you need to plug your amp into it and see if you like the sound.

Yep G12-65 very nice speakers, cab looks superb too. Don't worry about material, it is ply, Marshall never made an MDF cab in this time period. It will have a chipboard back panel though which most find good for dampening sharp internal reflections.

Edit, as @pedecamp mentions it really needs the back taking off to inspect though.

Looks in great condition but always check what's inside just in case. That would make a great all round cab with the 65's, bet that's not cheap in your neck of the woods.

Math suggests G12-65's, remove the back or a handle to verify before handing over the cash

Great score and it should have G12-65's like mine.

I've been thinking about buying a really nice 260w 1960A cab in Los Angeles but don't know much about how they sound . My reason for wanting it is it was made in 1980 the same year as my JMP 50w ,and not because I need it . It's got the small check grill cloth still we know thats rare and He wants $1200 for it money I shouldn't spend . I have a 1978 1960A with black backs that I'm re tolexing and I won't need two . I feel like I'm rich in A cabs since I also have a 1982 A but I got that sold . Any thoughts , I wish one of these was a B cad .

Well I bought it for about US$600. It has the 65's in it (removed the back to check) and has a serial number of 6599 which, I'm assuming, is quite low.

@GIBSON67 are you willing to reveal your serial number? I'm just curious as to what year it may have been made in.

You would best be looking at the stamps on the speaker frames for a date, serial number consistency and Marshall don't go together.
    I'm guessing from 1981 on.
My brother has a G12-65 cab from 79, but these are rare in the fact that they are un badged and still show 100w rating on the circular ID tag.

I had an A model of similar vintage as this. Those late JMP/Early 800 cabs with 65s are fantastic.
