Last 2 weeks I've managed to get 40 hours of work in on Friday Saturday n Sunday. the first week I basically recovered because I'm not used to that much walking and working. Work isn't hard but there is a lot of walking involved, prolly a few miles a weekend at least from department to department in this factory.

So I really haven't had the urge to drink but today it's on b!tch.

I'll do my best to not create stupid threads ( cept this one...) and I'll also do my best to not stereotype anyone including myself.

I joined tMF espcially to help people like you out. So here goes: don't drink any ditchwater. Save up your dough and get a bottle of Midleton's (irish). Preferably from a numbered cask, like this one: https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/midleton/midleton-25-year-old-1973-cask-86584-whiskey/

I was lucky enough, once, to get a glass at a friend's house, from his Dad's stock, and it was heaven. That was over 25 years ago, and it's the only whiskey I remember.

    (You're welcome)

Well, @shredless ....I must say I'm impressed with your ability to control yourself.

Now, let loose. Self control is waaay overrated.

Here, I am unqualified to comment on others behavior, for two reasons. I apparently have a genetic antagonist to alcohol intoxication. It means I can drink a whole lot of alcohol and metabolize it so quickly that it is almost impossible for me to get a buzz, much less drunk. My dad had a similar capacity as does a brother. And I've never been in trouble with alcohol, unlike tobacco. I do like a nice bourbon in the evening and I have a bottle of 30 years old Glenfiddich in my workshop, for medicinal purposes in case of cuts or splinters or other bad owies, like ex-girlfriend finds me...but that's another thread.

Come over to my place. I'll get you loaded. I'm a specialist in this area. Lol

...otherwise, yeah...I wonder if I'm similar to you in this regard. I've often wondered since my high school years why all of my friends and everyone else I would drink with were such lightweights....and then it occurred to me: maybe they weren't lightweights at all. Maybe I had some godlike ability to consume more alcohol than anyone around and still feel just fine...turns out the latter seems to be more true.

I can still get plenty wasted when I want to, it just takes me twice as much effort and booze than it does my peers it seems.

    Sometimes, life's a bitch

I had a beautiful California Beach Bunny GF who's father liked to humiliate her dates by getting them sick drunk and beating them at poker. After several sessions of me drinking all his good scotch and beating him every poker night, he finally stopped being such a dad and he and I got to be pretty good friends. He was convinced I was dumping the booze out somewhere, though, refusing to believe anyone could drink him under the table. I miss you Dane!
