Have you noticed this? The prices are exactly the same at GC, Sweetwater, American Musical, etc...

    Two exceptions:

GC has three Marshall footswitches on sale.

Sweetwater has a free cover for some of the high-end Marshall heads (which they may have already had).

    Otherwise, I see no difference.

    Anyone seeing anything different?

Simple. They don’t have to. Supply is low. Demand is high.

I’ve been watching those online music stores for quite a number of years, most notably, MF/GC, Sweetwater, American Musical Supply, and Zounds.

Through all the years, generally speaking, they all have the same prices on the same gear. As soon as the price on goes up from one, it seems the others are not far behind catching up.

In Belgium these kind of price agreements are illegal.

That probably has to do with MAP (Minimum Advertisable Price), where the manufacturers don't allow them to advertise below a certain minimum. They can sell for whatever price they want, but they just can't advertise it as such. But even the GC 15% off doesn't apply to Marshall.

Black Friday is not the day where retailers have to bargain. Today they'll sell tons of stuff at the advertised price. If you want a real bargain, wait until the new year when they'll be itching to clear out the leftovers.

Or you can also try calling the big music retailers and asking for a discount. I just bought a Flying V from Musicians Friend and got it for $300 less than advertised. (I also noticed the price went up $100 overnight...). Not sure if they'll discount Marshall items but they did for Gibson.

Im not sure the GC 15% off applies to anything.

Those coupons have so many brands excluded it usually leaves only a single item no one wants discounted.

In the retail biz big ticket items don’t get that much mark up it is all the small stuff that gets the mark up . Marshall only builds so many amps a year so when when the supply runs out you are out . It is not a easy game to play who gets the goods and who doesn’t

    BINGO.

I got wise to that real quick. The only thing it ever ended up being good towards was guitar picks or a tab book or some stupid crap like that.

Yep. I read the fine print on the "exempted" brands some years ago. It was pretty much any company you've ever actually heard of.

It applies to the crap that doesn’t sell and no one wants.

2 yrs ago you could actually use a 15% coupon on Marshalls. I had gotten a DSL40C from GC that way. But ever since the Studio series and some of the reissues, they don’t. It’s lame as shit since we already pay more for Marshalls on this side of the pond due to shit/greedy distributorship. Not to mention Brexit.

Some in the U.S. have tried to buy through Andertons and Thomans, and have fine print when you checkout for overseas shipping that you'll need a step-down transformer?
Curious, how about Marshall handling the amps for Canada then?

If it's helpful anytime I've ever gone into my local GC and asked them if they would apply the 15% off coupon to a non-qualifying product they were happy to. I got a SC20H back in June (2 price hikes ago) just by asking "hey can you apply the 15% to that?" I think they have some wiggle room.

I've got a buddy who just ordered a 2555X from Thomann's because it was almost half the price. Then he got an 1000w step transformer on Amazon for something like 80 bucks. Works perfectly. It's not really even that annoying but for me something just kinda irks me about it. Personal preference I guess.

I never fall for that fake sale shit. Especially Sweetwater. I'm way to immune to the BS. I could see an image that says 90% off and I would only half register it mentally. This is intentional and comes via my very own self-formulated "disdain" training (going to their sites.).

    SAle?? PaLeeEEEEEEZZ ...aH!

No one is budging on anything.

Prices are either the same as all month OR higher than yesterday!
