Big M Cabinet

Just got a Big M cab model M2212f.
I know it was assembled in L.I.
I've read the whole deal.
Its a vertical 2 x 12 with folded sides.
A bass player previously owned it, it could be bass or organ.
Strange part is there is obviously 2 different speakers inside.
One shiny, one not.
Easy to say one was changed, but....
The back has nice tolerance completely covering the back, no seam to open the cover.
Then there's no visible screws.
Anybody seen this before?

If it's like this one from the other thread, the grille cloth frame is attached to the cab with Velcro -- 3 tabs on the left edge and 3 tabs on the right edge.

Use a thin screwdriver, putty knife, church key bottle/can opener, or something similar. Work in in around the edges and pry the frame away from the cab, being cautious not to dent the lip of the cab.

It'll make the scary Velcro "ripping" sound. Once you get a corner or edge loose enough to get your fingers under the frame just pull it the rest of the way off.

Im surprised they didn't point the speakers the other way to lengthen the sound travel - an old HiFi trick even in the 60's.

I'll resize the pics today.
Box is nice, 3/4 plywood, folded sides are partical board. I've read bad stuff about the big M, but this is a nice cab.
Any ideas on that model number?

Model number -- no one really knows. The cab in the other thread didn't have its model number tag so people just called it an M2x12.

The aluminum cone speaker in yours is definitely a replacement since those didn't exist in the mid '70s. While Hartke is most associated with aluminum cones, Behringer has also used them and there are some "generic" versions too.

Your baffle has 8 mounting screws for each speaker (instead of 4 each like the cab in the other thread), so the other speaker may also be a replacement. Many bass speakers have heavy cast frames and huge magnets and 4 mounting screws is marginal with mdf/particle board.

someone thought that the baffle in the other one might have been a replacement, because the 11" speaker holes didn't seem to be factory cut, but hand sawn...
