What speakers and type of cabinet works best for for you on the SV20H and why?
I have a greenback 2x12 and a creamback 1x12, they both sound good. Im looking for another creamback so I can turn that 1x12 into a 2x12. The amp sounds good with my G12T-75 2x12 also.
I have a 2x12 with a greenback and V30. I like it better than when I had 2 greenbacks.
I use a single greenback in a closed-back cab. I sometimes use an Alnico Cream in an open back cab, which sounds great, but the greenback hits the classic rock notes that are Marshall to me.
Probably depends on what your trying do.
AC/DC type stuff would be G12M greenback or equivalent.
EVH would be G12M or equivalent.
Hendrix live or Page live would be G12H or equivalent.
As would Kiss.
Betts or Duane would not be Greenbacks of either type.
Foghat would be G12M greenbacks.
Much 80's metal would more likely be G12-65s or equivalent.
Framptom would be Vintage 30s.
Kossoff or Peter Green? Hmm?
because the reproduction of the whole range, as well as the curve makes a perfect match...
The harmonic content compliments that, of which the power amp pushes.
It's like they were made for each other.
Great to hear, I have 4x12 withG12t-75s but was considering the 2x12 with greenbacks. So you liked the creambacks better?
Great to know! I have a couple of V30, so it will be interesting to mix. Thanks!
Thats enlightening. Thanks!
Wich one is the H30?
Not better just different. I like rotating my speakers in and out every 6 months to year for something different. Plus I'm on a search for a super lead and will need the higher wattage of a pair of creambacks in a 2x12 some day.
whoever redesigned Celestion's website is a moron...
I'm pretty fond of the Celestion Heritage G12H 55hz also with my SV20H. Gives the amp some more body and opens up the top end harmonics.
I have the matching 1x12 cab. I’ve tried the V-type, V30 (Mesa), G12M(C), Gold, G12EVH and G12H30(55) heritage with the amp. All sound good in their own way but I settled on the G12H30(55) Heritage. It just does something special…
Edit: All 16 ohm speakers. Plugging into the 8 ohm tap gives a “sweeter” tone…
Great to know. Thanks!
Hi everyone, i thought id jump in and i apologise if this has already been discussed somewhere else. Im about to build a 2x12 cab with two Greenback which im gonna play through an 18watt plexi clone. My question is: closed back or semi closed. I also apologise if the question is stupid, but i dont have much experience with cabs, always played with combos.....
