I trot out one of my old Fenders once in a while, but I've come back to Marshalls after a long hiatus. Still... my BF Tremolux head sounds killer thru my 1960! :headbanger:

I have a Super reverb that really fills the room with sweet tones. Put a Tube Screamer in front of it and it wails. Thats what I would play :headbanger:

I used to use Laney amps in between my two stints with Marshall. If there were no Marshall amps...or I had no choice OTHER than Marshall, I'd be back to Laney in a heartbeat.

The bassman's a logical place to go otherwise if you're a Marshall fan as from my understanding the Marshall legacy started with that very amp. I actualy have 3 of my top 5 amps (for what i do anyway, there are other's i love though). The ENGL Invader and Framus Cobra are the two i want and may never own at least the ENGL...price is redonculous...I use and love the DSL100MLB,Mesa/Boogie rect-o-verb head and Peavey 5150 with bias mod. Those are all the amps i personaly would die happy owning and the mesa, marshall and peavey i already own. I've played pretty much everything out there as far as modern hi gain and boutique go though and other than the Invader and Cobra i can live without the rest. I like Orange but, they're overpriced and really don't sound much different than Marshall in as far as voice goes. I never cared for Diezel and Bogner's Uberschall is just a hi grade component Marshall DSL ( not a bad thing at all but, for the price...DSL baby!)Mattamps,Mesa Mark V, maybe...I'd use any rectifier amp but, would have to mod them a bit other than the one i own they all fall short in tone for LIVE work to me....I'd love a stiletto deuce or ACE.You know...i'm a whore...I'd play anything in a pinch as i can always find a useable tone but, those top 5 are really it other than maybe a blackface bandmaster.:hmm:

Is this the same Madison of Colorado that touted the "Divinity" series? I had an endorsement with them...i actualy used my ( no longer own it) Carvin MTS 3200 and hid it behind the Divinity while using a wireless unit at the time. I'd give them another chance though, my tastes have changed dramaticaly. I hate Carvin's amps now and i used to not care for Marshalls until i bought a few on whims and really dialed them in...i learned the hard way about EQ'ing with your ears and not your eyes or preconcieved notions...Now i like almost everything i play through for something...lol.

That Black amp is beautiful. I always liked Matamp's stuff, whether it was orange, black, green, etc. I have to say though, since I started building my own stuff, I don't really dig my stock Marshall anymore. I guess it has to do with having the ability to tweak and massage the circuit to sound exactly the way I want it to. I recently built a pre amp, and it consists of two channels, the clean is based on a Fender Blackface, but the tone stack has a bit of Vox flavor in it, and the gain channel is similar in topology to a 2204, but I've tweaked everything to my personal specs. I run this into a 60 watt push-pull EL34 power amp I built. It sounds huge, clear, loud and proud. So, I might in fact be leaving Marshall for my sound.

If I didn't have Marshalls, I use my Seymore Duncan! My '77 50 watt MV was in the shop once and I used the Duncan at a festival. ALL the guitar players following us wanted to play through it and most had Marshalls.
