Yeah life was sooo much better when things were cheaper, and we all had 1 TV for the family, no streaming services or cable TV bills, no mobile phone bills, 1 car to a family etc etc etc
Life is soooo much harder now....

People aren't talking about the way things were fifty years ago.

I'm taking your reply as sarcasm? OK, cool. But ya know, it depends on how you look at it.

Thinking back on growing up in those ancient times, when we had one or maybe two cars parked in the driveway, rotary phones, no home computers (those were only at NASA and military bases, ect.) one TV per household with three channels, no social media madness, ect., ect..

Hell yeah, it was a pretty good world to live in..If I could I would go back in a heartbeat!

Of course there's plenty of great things life has to offer now, this forum being one of them..But unfortunately there's a dark side that's taking over, unbridled greed and lust for power being the driving force behind all that's wrong in the world today.

And when it comes to greed, that's been around since the dawn of civilization, however in recent years it's manifested itself like never before in human history. Hence the current inflation trend, and the bottom line as far as the reasons for it is GREED, period.

I agree that greed has been there since the dawn of time. But I think it has evolved through our own spending habits.
Takeaways as a kid? What once a fortnight or once a month we got fish and chips.
How many kids do you think only get takeaways once a month nowadays?
Hell I'm guilty of it myself.
So we kind of get what we created.

We didn't have the "diversity" back then, but "diversity" is our strength, right? We are a super strong country now finally, right? :woot:

Presidents are definitely not what we were told they were in grade school. Politics are a joke. Corporations run the country in every way that matters. And our culture is one of self-centered individualism where 'rewarding yourself' is an expression of freedom, so yes, we'll pay the inflated prices. We aren't united enough to vote with our wallets and make it count.

Actually, it is. The majority of folks need two incomes to raise a family these days...at least here in the US. I don't know how your economy is doing.

All the conectivity takes up too much time from the important things in life and it all costs money. So does the second car in payments, insurance, gas, maintenance...

I was stupified to see the asking
prices on the old marshall folded
    metal, 4 Transistor overdrivers
    of the 80s...Bluesbreaker GuvNor
    and such.

I always say: He who buys this 20 bucks
worth of electronics gets exactly what
    he pays for.

But he is lucky too, because every little
tonedeaf kids video bumps his investment.

I personally bought Superleads for those
    Transistor-Pedal prices...its good fun watching
    this shit.

There always seems to be a fair bit of denial when gear prices skyrocket. It comes form people who don't want the change, or don't agree with it, but it's not up to them. It's funny how people will say a piece of gear is only worth X, but then they talk about how some idiot will pay that X amount. The value can't be denied just because it sells for more than you would pay, given that "something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it". The "Someone" in that old saying doesn't have to be you. If it sells for that, it's worth that. It just may not be what you are willing to spend. Now that doesn't make it the new median price, however, factor in supply and demand and the median price changes quick!
