Funny you should mention that. I have one. There were different Contours, mine is simply the "Mockingbird Contour". Does have binding, though.
I bought it on a whim, $199 GC closeout. This MIK is shockingly good. Easily worth at least the $399 regular price. Flawless fit and finish. Even the setup was great right out of the box. Smooth and comfortable player.
Sounds great, wide range, and effective coil splits. No desire to change any of the electronics. Simply "you gotta be kidding me".
The only weak spot may be the tuners. They look a little fragile, but so far it holds a tune decently. Easily my best cheap guitar.

Yup, I got the Bich Pro X Custom when MF were blowing them out. I've kept mine. Another decent MIK axe, but I'd easily take the Contour. Not that this Bich is any slouch.

It seems from what I have the abalone binding is only there to commemorate 50 years of the company and won't be a standard. It also seems they will have multiple lines. The ones we have seen yet are the extreme series, which to me is the high end import models price at 1399+. Whether they will have an even higher line up that is made in japan is questionable. A usa production line seems the next step up.

It definitely seems they will definitely be coming out with a line 1399<. I doubt it will be below 800/700 since if they are providing top tier neck thrus, that beginning price point seems to where they start out from other brands.

I am glad to see that this company is reviving itself from the Hanser bs and hopefully they can have a great comeback. If not well it will be truly a disappointment for BCR fans and those interested in another brand that can tailor to their needs.

They are some ugly looking guitars! Who on earth would buy those? HAHA They're shooting themselves in the foot with those.

Yeah, well fortunately for us, the world doesn't revolve around your opinions.

They need to shit-can that Schecter-esque body, neck, and headstock binding, that's for sure. Go back to what made them desirable in the 1970's.

Shit on schecter all you want, but they only have one model that has the abalone binding. Take a look at their catalogue, they have changed in the past 15 years.

Here is the link, I even included it for you! https://www.schecterguitars.com/

Again a subjective matter. I personally don't like the Ironbird shape, but a lot of people are looking forward to it.

Okay... They look better than what I remember. Still, I hope BCR releases a classic line, and not just guitars that cater to metalheads.

From the info I have gathered the abalone binding will only be a limited thing and on select models/lines to commemorate 50 years of BCR.

I am pretty sure they will have many lines of stuff of both modern and vintage in different price ranges.

Plus the only one that I like that has the abalone binding is the warlock.

I think the fact that the abalone is the only standoutishh thing on the guitar makes it look subtle and classy... unlike this...

That Warlock would look awesome without the neck binding. Has a sort-of PS-10 look to it. Is that one of the new ones?

I just got an Extreme Mockingbird and it’s terrific. Wonderful build quality and great tone. It was perfect right out of the box. I own USA Gibsons, Fenders and PRSs and this guitar can stand up to any of them. This guitar is a winner!
