Been away for a few years since i mistakenly sold my JCM800 and after a brief flirtation with a Boss Katana, I opted for a new DSL....dont get me wrong, the Boss sounded kinda OK but totally lacked the touch sensitivity of a true valve amp. So far first impressions of the DSL are positive (build and sound quality) so will put it through its paces tomorrow at rehearsal.....

    good to be back :)

Welcome back @buzz. Getting rid of an 800 and buying a Katana is quite a leap of faith man. You’re absolutely right about tube amps and the feel, the touch sensitivity and pick attack in a good tube amp cannot be replicated.

I bet you’re happy to be back!

well, i was messing around yesterday, setting up my pedal board with the DSL......on it i have a japanese SD1 and a japanese DS1....wow, the DSL loves these as much as the old 800 did. the katana was never happy being hit in the front end with these...so far i am very impressed but will see what its liked cranked tonight.

first band test for the DSL last night and it passed with flying colours...green on the ultra channel and gain at 11 o clock and it was instant jcm800 growl (and f***ing LOUD!!!!) with lots of bottom end if required. clean channel was surprisingly good too, warm and rounded but cut through the mix perfectly.

    great work Marshall
