It sounds pretty damn close to me man, well done. EQ settings/amp obviously play a big part in it as well, but I can hear how the core tone is strat-like for sure.
Just so you know I recorded mine: Strat direct into the 68' 1987 then through a SM57 with the board flat & the amp flat; no pedals at all, a 4 x 12" with G75-T's.
I'm not using a Mic. Im using my Zoom H2 just so u know. What I have reaslied is that I'm missing the low frequencies. So I need to EQ that out. That may be one of the downsides of tapped humbuckers. This is actually a good little experiment
Yeah possibly. For a clean Strat tone a good yardstick could be Knoffler? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pa9x9fZBtY&ob=av2n[/ame]
I won't make any excuses about the tone. but listening to to the original .WAV and the conversion SoundClick does there's a difference. but do you really think it's Ice-Pick or just bright? lol
Ok lets go with "tinny". I expect more warmth and a hint of graininess in a Marshall/strat clean tone. That sounded like Seymour Duncan pickups which were sort of too clinical.
