I am having a damned if I do/don’t dilemma right now.

I made an unexpected purchase of a guitar that actually adds some options and variety to my collection. Necessary? No. Useful? More than most. That said, I am first in line for a yet-to-be released and heavily desired (in a niche market) Gibson. It offers nothing I don’t have (the guitar itself and its configuration), and given Gibson’s unreasonable pricing, this model (which should be $1,500-$2,000 tops for materials and build processes used) is expected to sit in the $2,500-$3000 range due to market desirability.

If I buy, I am a fool for spending so much for another hole in my head. If I pass, I am a fool for not getting it when I had the chance. Worst part, it’s not a go-to axe for me already having the model.

I honestly pretty much have everything that I need as far as amp, pedals, and guitars go. That being said, I'd still like to get a Gibson 50's Goldtop with cream P90 pickups. It's hard to justify spending that much on another Les Paul though when I really don't "need" it. It's just a want. I think for now I'm done with the high dollar purchases.

I tell myself yes, then I get seduced by the gas. I am currently pining for a pointy Carvin shreddy thing which is a hole in my collection like a V220 or something fun like that.
Don't see too many of those anymore. I've been thinking about one of them for a while too.

Never! I've been buying and selling since the early 80's...that's what I do! And I have been downsizing and saving up to buy something.

Personally, I think some of the best gear deals are just coming out. Last year's inflation and high gas prices had to squeeze a lot of folks,
so I am sure folks sold gear to cover expenses. Which to me translates into good used deals on Craigslist, pawn shops, guitar stores and even GC.

I have more than I have ever had, and I dont sell stuff, so my collection is expanding to serious levels lol. But no, I'm not finished. At 54 years old, I'm more serious about my playing, giging etc than I have been in a long time, so I'm always looking.

In the end, we don't know how much time we have to enjoy the toys. Most of us anyways. If it is within the budget, I say do it and no regrets.
I have 5 different Les Pauls.

Actually, I am. Both guitars, amps, and all. I invested heavily a few years ago on some relatively insane deals (like the legendary CME Gibson Memphis blowout). Glad I did then and glad I did now. I'm a happily retired buyer. Just need to spend more time playing!

Yep - retired, have enough to gig with, and no spare cash anymore. Actually sold a lot of stuff when I retired, probably $6K to pay off some bills and prepare for poverty

I was up early when a '66 JTM 45 popped up on Reverb. After studying it for a while and getting the nod from Neil I set out to buy it. The seller had no feedback so I tried sending a message but Reverb wouldn't allow it. Within minutes the ability to buy it was removed although the ad was active. In another Reverb WTF occurrence, I bought a pickup for my '77 explorer. When it arrived it clearly wasn't as pictured. When I bitched the guy tells me to get fcked because he has more that look just like it. A used '77 T top, mind you. I contact Reverb to show them, and while they acknowledged the issue, they didn't care nor would they act on my behalf. I sent it back and filed a claim with my CC company. Peace sells but who buying? Not me...

Nope not buying . Especially not at todays stupid high numbers , I'm actually selling overstock items that dont get used anymore . Local ads show no one buying . Never seen so many tube amps for sale at once . They been up for months , no takers . But guys trying to get stupid high numbers for basically useless gear . I never inflate my pristine gear . All my asking prices are at very reasonable lower numbers ... and still no takers .

I'd like to buy more ...but really can't afford anymore.

Gear is fun. Debt is not...

The amount of gear I have outweighs my talent by a large margin. I have no boutique items unless you consider my Splawn, but it was bought used and cheap.

There is always something that will strike my fancy and with guitars, I like oddball.

Would like I like to buy more? Absolutely.
Realistically....I can't. It has inflated like everything else...

There is two to three guitars I'd like to add to my stash. Whether that will ever happen or not is unsure...

Amp wise? Too many to list but these would round it out nicely for me...
*Silver Jubilee 2555x
*Rivera Knucklehead Tre

I could have a room full of Gibson Explorer's and Flying V's...but I might never leave.
