    It's based on Chromium.
    I kinda like it...

    (uBlock Origin extension works well)

I now have uBlock installed on your advice. Cheers @Micky.
I didn't realise it was a whole new version of Edge.
I actually preferred the original. Every hit now looks like a sponsored advert.
Are there any settings to change it back?

uBlock is an extension, not a new version of browser. You can remove any extension. I'm not sure how to do it in Edge, because I'll never use it for the web. The only thing I use it for is to access my modem & router.

    It is too easily infected.

Sky Monkey's MS Edge is already infected...

I know. @Micky suggested trying it. I have.
Not actually infected. I worked out that the Skimlinks is coming from the MF itself! Money making tool for forums etc.
    See this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skimlinks
Restored my PC to before Skimlinks incident, and it was still there.
    Malwarebytes scan found nothing.
    Kaspersky full scan found nothing.
Repeating the link hijack experiment on the Seymour Duncan forum, no Skimlinks.

But now I am not getting the Skimlinks hijack anymore with the MF!

I think there may have been an integration problem that the MF has now fixed.

I ran the new version of Edge all last night.
While I like the look and functionality I still have one gripe.

I cannot change the New Tab behavior to open a Google page with a single click.
It opens a Bing search and you can't change it.
(I have an extreme dislike for Bing...)

I do like the fact that it is based on Chromium.
Seems extremely stable, looks like the core engine is the same as Chrome.
Not all the same extensions are available yet.
(Chromium is basically Chrome that runs on Linux, I use it all the time...)

I think I will stick to Chrome.

Edge was designed for use on the M$ Surface Pro with their stylus because M$ thought tablets were tomorrow's future of PC's. They can dream on, because I work for and support over 1,200 employees in 10 locations across the US, most of whom use Chrome exclusively as a company-wide standard. So as far as I can tell, until everyone replaces desktop PC's with an M$ Surface Pro tablet, it's going to be a while before anything supersedes Google Chrome.

I replied to someone about another forum issue in private...

re: scripts on site not working
skimlinks is nothing new & it's a redirect. It's like a penny counter, for the forum ad-ware. You click on a link, it counts the link & revenue is generated. Use an ad-blocker & it blocks the adware. It's supposed to stop it outright, but, for some reason, it's not, so, it stops it dead in it's tracks revealing skimlinks. My guess is that skimlinks changed something in the code & uBlock was 1 step behind & wasn't able to block it outright... or... that uBlock is supposed to let skimlinks through & was ½ blocking it anyway...

I downloaded it last week. Saw that it still looked like IE and quickly forgot about it.
