I've been researching Ceriatone amps and just read that a while back Friedman had a problem with Nic cloning some amps. They had a little feud going so Nic cloned the BE and called it the AH for asshole lol... I got a big laugh out of that. Anybody ever played one? How'd it sound?
I recall Nik saying, some years back, that I would not clone anything Friedman not to hurt the guy's businness. Friedman was semi-unknown at the time,so it makes sense, but something must have happened later. I've never played the AH100, but I dig the PTP wiring, that's the way a 4k Marshall derived amp should be made in my book, but that's a personal preference I think.
Yeah, apparently Nic hadn't cloned Dave's amps but Dave still had an issue with him cloning some even though he does something similar.. so then Nic cloned his Bown Eye amp. A double play on words that is hilarious.
It's always the same old story, Nik's a criminal cause he steals intellectual properties of others like only a man with no ethic would do (oh and he's Asian), Germino, Friedman and the likes of them are modern heroes who brought legendary circuits into the hands of us players. (oh and their are fine American fellas, God bless em).
True to form then...isnt that what “they” do over there, reverse engineer what others design, copy, steel, then sell it for 1/2 the price????
many amp (and pedal) designers think they're way smarter than they really are. using the same 50-70 year old circuit blocks, tweaking values and mixing and matching and acting like they invented something brand new i mean they've been doing it forever. many OLD designs were lifted directly from tube datasheets show me an amp designer who claims to be "original" and s/he's either a liar or delusional
It’s only ok if your a US company stealing intellectual property and charging $4-5k apparently. Then you are applauded.
Aren't Friedman's amps based on Marshalls? I get he alters them but they are still based on another amp... so that is ok but not a direct copy of the alterations made to a copy of a circuit?
His amps are modded Marshalls for the most part. The logic is profoundly liberal, where it's ok for me to screw you but no one shall do it to me.
Amps are old technology period! There is only so much one can alter the circuit and/or add options. They are not like an automobile where you can add seating surfaces, AC, iPads, ass massages, etc! And when amp MFGs do add some options, old fart players rip on them so its a lose lose situation for the most part. Friedman offers a quality made in America amps with the tone most love so whats the beef? It doesnt say Marshall!?
Logic of most people here if you change 4 or 5 components and use the same fucking topography and charge 5k, manufacture in the US you are THE MAN. if you do a clone, sell as a clone, a well built clone, sell it cheaper and make it overseas: DAMN YOU FUCKING COMUNIST. I´m laughing a lot about it here, for real. Marshall copied Fender, Friedman copied Marshall and the list goes on... Btw, Patents lasts for 25 years, right???
