What are you optimistic about? Any huge gains? Terrible losses?
    Which ones do you like?

Yes. BTC, ETH, and DCR since 2019
I threw some BTC profit at DOGE and made 50% in 4 days then got back out in Feb. Got back in with that same chunk for a week.or two but got out again and traded for ADA. I think there's a use case with ADA, unlike DOGE.

Those are the symbols for a few cryptos.
    BTC is Bitcoin.
    ETH is Ethereum
    DCR is Decred.
All three have a different application.
You can Google them and learn more. Many ppl know little, or are skeptical, or are disinterested. On the other hand some ppl think this type.of currency and technolgies will be valuable and used everywhere in the future...others think it's a get rich quick, trading scheme.

You can buy on an exchange, sort of like stocks.
The genre is extremely volatile. Dont 'invest' more than you could.lose without caring.

Understanding the concept of blockchain would be helpful as would having an open mind, and/or libertarian leanings. Look at inflation, look at the way western countries are devaluing their currency. Look at how time consuming and costly it is for people to use money, globally.

It can be a bit if a rabbit hole. I dont obsess over it, but getting a wide pallet of information; tech, economic, history, govt. policy, etc is a big deal in this case....IMO

Well, I am a bit of a libertarian myself...for at least the past 30 years...before it became a buzzword. We're the party that PARTIES!!!

Libertarians are plotting to take over the world and leave you alone :woot:

yea, digital currency is hard for some people to 'get' because it doesn't actually exist, but a $1,000 bill is just a piece of paper, backed-up by a government that no longer holds it up to gold, and has the ability to devalue it. At least with blockchain technology and a limited amount of coins, a decentralized -yet accurate- ledger can have it's advantages....so long as it's useful in everyday society as some kind of utility. I doubt governments will willingly give up control though... they don't like doing that.
It is also the same price for everyone in the world whether it's New York, or a village in Africa. There's no way it will replace fiat, but it isn't going anywhere, and we are going to live in a world with parallel currency competing with each other, each with it's own advantage. I'm sure people thought the same thing about debit/credit cards generations ago.

Yeah I remember hearing about BTC from a kid who was into web scams back in like....2005 maybe?

It seemed so tacky and "pricey" (maybe $100?) back then that I was like, nah.

Wonder if that kid is now a bitcoin millionaire, in prison, or maybe dead

EDIT: ...OR NOT. GOOGLE SEARCH SAYS IT WASN'T AROUND BACK WHEN I KNEW THAT PUNK??? Guess I'm confused

I'd heard about Bitcoin even before five yrs ago. When I finally decided to make my first buy of $100 worth to see what was going to happen in 2019 it was at 5,300. I felt crazy. That $100 is now worth $1,000 two yrs later. So....

I remember hearing about it in the very beginning when a person bought a 'pizza' with bitcoin. I thought nothing of it at the time. oh well.
