Just curious. Almost 3 months since I placed my order and still no news on delivery. Last word from George was 6 weeks ago, saying that Heyboer had a backlog, but no news since. Anyone else in the same boat?

I think Classic Tone going under has had a big impact on demand for other suppliers around the same price point.

I emailed and got this email back quickly.

    Thank you for contacting Metropoulos!

Please note: due to recent developments (Covid shut downs, supply
chain issues, family health concerns and more) I'm changing
Metropoulos Amplification to operate better and provide the experience
    I demand for my customers.
As such, amps will not be available for pre-order. Instead, I'll
manufacturer as parts allow and make them available.
Please watch our Facebook page for updates and availability. Thanks!

To help me help you, here are answers to the most commonly asked
    questions I receive:

Replica amps: I am not taking orders for replica amps at this time.
I am out of most of the parts for those amps. Please visit
Valvestorm.com for DIY parts and info.

PPI-MV: I prefer the Rich mod aka Type 2 PPI MV that uses the PEC dual
500k Audio taper pot (available form Valvestorm.com). It will work in
virtually any amp that uses a long tail phase inverter.

Metro-Plex 100 watt: this amp is not available at this time and I
have no plans to bring it back.

Metro-Plex 50 watt: on hold indefinitely.

Currently manufactured amps: DVL-1 and Super-Plex.

True Replica cabs: discontinued. All the historically accurate parts
I made for these cabs are used up. I have no plan to make these parts
again. In fact, the company that made the handles will not make them
again. They do pop up on Reverb from time to time.

2-12 Slant Cabs: will be made available as I have inventory.

Zero Loss FX loops: Available in our store. The instructions are
specific to Marshall model 1987, 1959, 2203 and 2204. However, the
loop works in countless amps. A good tech can install and tweak, if
necessary, for optimal performance. There is a Facebook group
dedicated to this loop. There you’ll find info about installation in
    many amps. https://www.facebook.com/groups/zerolossfx

Amp mods: I’m too busy to take on amp mods right now. Sorry.

Amp restoration: I’m also too busy for restoration work right now.
But, when time allows I prefer this to amp mods. My best guess is
late in 2020 before I can take on restorations again.

Supa-Boost: new sold at WGS exclusively.

Kit or Metropoulos??? Seems every time an amp is listed on Reverb or
Ebay I get contacted to authenticate. Here are 4 identifying traits
of an amp I’ve built personally.

    1. Metropoulos block logo

    2. My signature on the chassis, signed and dated.

    3. “Made in USA by Metropoulos Amplification Inc” on the rear panel.

    4. Serial number sticker on the rear panel. Also, stamped on
    top of the chassis.

Amps without these marks are surely built from Metroamp DIY kits.

Transformers: Replica trannys are available in our store.

Metropoulos amp repairs: email me for troubleshooting tips and if
necessary, an RMA to ship the amp to me.

Vintage Marshall authentication: I just don’t have time to
authenticate every old Marshall that’s listed for sale. Though I
really do enjoy it. Eventually, I would like to offer this as paid
    service.

Where to keep up Metropoulos online:

Metropoulos Amp Inc Facebook page: Metropoulos Amplification FB page

Metropoulos Players group: Metropoulos Player's Lounge

Zero Loss FX Loop Group: Zero Loss FX Loop Group

Metropoulos Youtube channel: Metropoulos on Youtube

    Metropoulos Instagram: Metropoulos on Instagram

My sincere apology for any less than terrific Metropoulos experiences
recently and heartfelt thank you for your support and enthusiasm since
    2003!

Yes, I think you're right - demand is outstripping supply. George mentioned to me in his last email that Heyboer had bought some of Magnetic Components (Classictone) winding machines. Let's hope that they are catching up with orders.

Warmoth and KnE guitar bodies each have a 6-7 week backlog on new orders, but it hasn't stopped me from purchasing their products, because they are worth it to me, just like the Metro Amps stuff...

Yep... I’m in the same boat. Patience is a virtue, right? Lol.

Yes, but I'm running out of patience. Still no news about my order. :(

Have you considered cancelling and going to Heyboer direct? Sure it wont be the *exact* same spec but to me it looks like the problem here is the middleman, not Heyboer. 3 months is unacceptable!

Is there not anyone in UK/Europe doing decent transformers?

ps. What are you planning on building??

Yes, I've considered cancelling, but wanted to give George the benefit of the doubt. I may reconsider. In the meantime, I managed to source equivalent Heyboer PT and OT from AmpPartsDirect (excellent service by the way). But I notice that they've since run out of stock too... Perhaps there really is an issue at Heyboer.

I'm sure there must be similar quality manufacturers in Europe, but if they exist they are known only to a secret amp-building sect of which I am not a member, lol.

A couple of builds on the horizon: a version 2 of the Orange-Marshall with a tweaked circuit and switchable gains and volumes, and a Dirty Shirley inspired build. :)

Europe is oddly difficult to get really good clones I’m afraid.
Modulus sell a Dagnall and RS type OT clone but no one really gets near the 3 Ms as far as accuracy goes. TAD are kind of ok but not my go to.
Majestic in Dorset have done some nice PTs for myself and Plexmaster. Not tried their OTs tho’
George is a straight shooter and will tell you the truth.

I was wondering about the new/current Dagnall company - are they any good? They have a picture of Lemmy on their website so I assumed they would be pretty decent ;) Didn't Marshall use them for some of their recent hand-wired clones?

Honestly, this Johan Segeborn video would be give me pause regarding the current production Dagnalls:

Really? I find many of these comparison videos really subtle (eg. this one), but the difference between those OTs is night and day to me. Neither is bad, just different.

Maybe the new Dagnall is based on a different type? I wouldn't be too surprised if the JCM800 transformer differs from the early '70 JMP ones....

The wait is Heyboer not George I would say. I’ve been ordering directly from Heyboer for some time and because I don’t make a large quantity order, it takes time. Probably even with a large order we’re in line. Heyboer makes transformers for lots more than just tube amps and they are busy. By the way, if you speak to Phil, he’ll set you up with any spec you want.

A 4 month delay? Really? I sent Heyboer an email 2 days ago. No reply. No reply either from George to any emails sent to him in the last few weeks. Delays, sure, I understand that they can happen, but this long wait and no responses to emails pisses me off somewhat.

I call them on the phone. You won’t be able to do that until Monday and it won’t help to raise hell either but you can voice your concern. If you ordered through George calling Heyboer really won’t help because it’s George’s order.

No replies to my emails from Metropoulos except the standard one that they send to ALL inquiries. No reply at all from Marstran after two emails wanting to buy a PT mounting bracket. To me, that's just a lack of common courtesy. You have a product you are advertising to sell and you say I have to contact you to buy the product but you don't reply to two emails from me trying to buy your product? Really?
