I have 2 of the 100 watt mosfet’s and I am no longer getting the loud pop on power down, but mine are on the clean channel, when I power down. With volume on 2 !!
    Cheers Mitch

Picked up the basket weave lead 12 today. Running out of space but must find the red and black!

Cool. Getting a plie there..lol. that is a black one. the grilles are just black that has faded , not basket weave. Take the back off one and look. The wrap arounds of the cloth will still be black.

I used to wipe armour all, or tire black on a rag to bring the black back, but my buddy said to use liquid wrench instead (no shit). It brings the black back to black, and doesn't fade like the armour all or tire black. It works.

Wow, do they fade that much? It looks natural lol. What causes the cloth to fade like that? I wiped the tolex down with a high grade vinyl cleaner and sure enough it’s black. Guess I’m still in need of the green.

Yea I have seen quite a few mid 80's amps with that condition. Rumor has it they had a run of cloth that had a problem with the pigment in the dye.

Take an after pic after you wipe down the cloth. The ones I've done look unfaded, and almost new.

Look on the bright side, it's one less you'll have to look for. :D

While you're at it, don't forget the plexi-style version. I think they were produced slightly later than the others because all the ones I've seen have the headphone jack on the front, not on the rear beside the speaker jacks like the others.

I think that's what he refers to when he says "green" version. I have never seen one in person..are they actually green? I always thought they were the same ole black.

Interesting. I've never seen one in person either. I too thought the plexi version was the usual black and the green version was just another version of the "regular" 3005. Curious to know what others have seen.

I have heard, but can't actually attest to as this info could be wrong, that the Plexi style lead 12 stacks were only sent to the top selling dealers as a promo item..hence their rarity compared to the others..but that could be just internet fodder, and not correct. They are rarer than the others thats for sure, and asking prices are nuts.

I saw someone posted a plexi 3005 on reverb last week (head only) for $450 and sold it.

i had one of these. 25+ yrs agpIt was loudest amp i ever owned. Bought it used for pennies. was intrigued more than anything. at a friends lake home we jamed , it was insanely loud. I had two Marshall 4X12 cabs. Later my friend called talking with his neighbors who live across the lake.atanithe cove not visable from his home. 3/8 mile estby boat . They could hear it like it was on their property. Everybody was amazed at the distance it traveled. LOL.

You may also want to consider adding the 3505 Micro Bass stack since you're clearly up to the challenge of completing the whole collection! Unlike the others in your collection, the 3505 is an entirely different circuit. I had one that I used for bass, but didn't really enjoy the tone ... I found it somewhat muddy and completely clean at all settings. But it sure looked good beside my Lead 12 Micro Stack!
