Music geniuses. As a cultural phenomenon, a double-edged sword.

The Beatles are the only artist to simultaneouly chart the number 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 (12 total) songs on the Billboard Top 100. Some might consider that to be the mark of the greatest band ever.

"And in the end... The love you take, is equal to the love... you make." I've always felt that was one of the greatest lines ever written. Add that to the rest of the music/lyrics and fuhgeddaboudit!

They were and still are the only band that could go from Thrash Punk (way before Johnny Rotten BTW) to a musical score like The Long and Winding Road back to back and do em both right! Listen to those guitars in Helter Skelter...somebody was pissed!

I believe, Paul said the song was a response to The Who who he heard had just recorded
    a real rocker.

I’ll admit that’s a damn good line, but, when it comes to Rock&Roll I think Chuck Berry has a better one in “No Particular Place To Go” where at the beginning of the song he describes parking with his girl and complains that he couldn’t get her seat belt loose. Then, the last line of the song several verses later, he cries; “And all the way home I held a grudge for the safety belt that wouldn’t budge!”
That has something to do with love too, doesn’t it?

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes.
And something about fish and finger pies.
    And blue suburban skies.
    Meanwhile back,
Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes.
