One Man’s Quest to Revive the Great American Vacuum Tube ...

Read in Wired, this guy Charles Whitener bought General Electric some years back and has been manufacturing 300b audio tubes for awhile... very expensive hi-fi audio tubes

He's gonna start building 12ax7, el34, 6l6's, etc. in the near future in Georgia. Anybody know of this? I'm very curious about tube alternatives, and if you know about this guy.

Sure you don't mean Western Electric?

He's been at it a while... let's see if he delivers.

Sorry, Western Electric 🤣
My bad🤣
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Yes, Western Electric has been rumored to start making amp tubes in the US, but I've never heard anything about when.

Btw, you can own GE today for $93.15 a share.
Not sure how many of those you need before you can tell them to make amp tubes too.

Still laughing. The article said 12ax7's this summer. We'll see.

I usually do a search before i post. Shudda searched for "western electric" instead. This is a lesser duplicate from EADGBE. Humble apologies.

No worries, it’s not like we have a shortage of things to say about tubes.
Will be $93.15 a tube…
I mean, what price is reasonable for an American made, presumably premium quality preamp tube? Aren’t Gold Lions like $45 a piece?
