Time to get the train rolling...............

    tw transformers.jpg

I really don't know the destination but the train has started. I originally was thinking of doing another 6v6 build. I saw a post from William (thanks for the tip) about these transformers and knew I needed them. So I got them a couple days ago. But now I keep thinking I have Trainwreck transformers. I just noticed that Triode offers a Trainwreck chassis ready to go.

Well sign me up, It's practically building itself.

Great amp to build lots of gain in that circuit . High gain amps are not easy to get right the build has to be right

Not sure If I'll get it right. If not I can always rip it apart and build that 6v6 amp I have been thinking about.
I have read they are temperamental with a sensitive layout, looks a little unorthodox.

Crazy train yeah I should have titled the thread that, I still might.

I'll leave you with this though

Got the chassis, guess they're not concerned with the cosmetics. I have had some chassis that came with a protective plastic film I had to peel off. Guess they wanted to save me the extra work

Perhaps they had a summer picnic / softball game going on and needed a second base

Join The Amp Garage and you can get all the eye candy on the Express insides and layout. These amps are really finicky about layout to make them stable.

I appreciate you guys getting a couple jokes in on the chassis......... it has eased the burden a little.

I have researched Trainwrecks over the last week or two.....I am no Trainwreck expert but,

this looks like a small easy build. Maybe the Express is the easy one?

I have heard about the amps being unstable, even before you guys mentioned it.

So I have an excuse if something goes wrong.

I don’t know why they punched the chassis with two wire holes for the power transformer. I always use a 1/2 inch grommet for the power transformer wires.

I don't know why they did 2 holes, I was tempted to just drill a big hole in the middle,

but didn't want it to look hacked up.

I had to take the cover off the Transformer. A file wasn't going to work it's too close to the bell

A grinding stone in a cordless drill made quick work of it, I had to do both sides.

The most complicated part is going to be the cabinet. after looking at some I found a couple places that make them.

So many options got me overloaded.....I am trying to get a cabinet build locally first.

Looks like I need that wood face plate before building the amp, unless I want to take it back apart to fit it on later.
