    Hi folks:

After three moves in five years, I finally got my old 6100LE out to play and found a few scratchy, shorting pots in need of a clean. I thought I'd share some pics as I'd never seen the chassis out of the cabinet in other pics; number 459 of 800 and I believe only two that were originally sent to Canada. I bought it new in 93. The thing looks like one of those boutique amps when naked. I only had to carefully squirt tuner cleaner into each pot and many turns later all was OK. While open, I also pulled the tubes and cleaned all the sockets and pins too. Some Marshall por*ography for you:

Hi all: It is a very pretty amp. The chassis and other metal parts are brass plated; I've read descriptions that state it is gold plated but this is not the case. The "Marshall" logos on the cab and head are solid brass and the dark blue tolex make the "gold" bits pop. It's been babied in a home studio and only been out jamming a dozen or so times. It has a very wide range of tones; it was my understanding that the goal of the 30th anniversary amp was to try and reproduce all the signature, 60s/70s/80s Marshall valve amp sounds in one amp. It's also got a wide range of power outputs from 100W down to 25W. I have covers for the head and cab which is why it is so clean but it really is a work of art so is in my living room uncovered for now.

The pot cleaner I use is Nexxtech Tuner Control cleaner and lubricant that is designed for pots; it's not just a switch cleaner. I have Nexxtech switch cleaner too that I used on the tube sockets. I've read positive things about DeOxit but have not tried it yet; one little can of cleaner lasts a long time.

I was told that only two were sent to Canada when I bought it from Long and McQuade, Vancouver, BC in June 1993. At the store, there were two matching 4x12s , a 6960A (slant) and a 6960B but I only bought the 6960A. The certificate or authenticity was missing from the box so L&M said they would contact Marshall and get one for me. It never happened. I tried myself a year or so later and Marshall never responded. I guess it would be hard to fake an amp like this.

A few more pics: one from the back with the black screen off and a weird chassis sticker that shows that this is a Canadian special, assembled by Ian and tested on July 30 1992!

Can't beat a Les Paul and a Marshall.
