All posts on Forums are a shade of one or all of the three:

    1. I'm better than you
    2. I'm smarter than you
    3. I'm old now, but I achieved more than you
but have no proof because 'video wasn't invented yet.'

Fourth type: purposely inciteful posts made for the sake of stirring up shit (these are often entertaining and not necessarily a bad thing)

You have no idea what your talking about.
Only a fool would suggest something like that.
After all these years, I don't know why I even waste the time I have left reading the stuff posted here.

Honestly, I don't get that vibe out of the posts here. A lot of threads ask for advice (tons), and I think people just give it to the best of their ability. For example, in the virtual electronics support sector of the board there are forums with the great wisdom of those electronic cats here. I can't touch that and never give advice there. I could say "wow these people really like to brag about their electrical knowledge", but I don't. They know something often many degrees more than me and are just offering it up.

I think in the modern day of entitlement culture it's very hard for forums where people embrace things that are generally expensive. There was a time when hard work and accomplishment was looked up on, and it was known that you get out what you put in. People with "things" or success never had to explain themselves to the "do nothings"; in fact it was quite the opposite. So if you post a new Marshall you bought it will often be seen as a brag, humble brag, or just kinda distasteful in general. Times before people would embrace your amp under the comradery of what the forum board was all about. Most likely they would have pretty much the same themselves and be happy for you, or at least know that's what the board is about and that maybe they shouldn't even be there.

Now days the trophy has to go to everyone and I think it majorly hinders what these places are all about. God forbid should you drop a random thread with pictures of your gear for fellow comrades to have some multimedia eye candy to expand the experience and make/keep it fun.

In a lot of ways entitlement culture killed the heart of what these places are all about.

Now, I've obviously offended someone here with my post. Maybe general good spelling is offense? Phrasing? Punctuation? There's just got to be something for these types.

    Don’t forget nostalgic posts-
“Things were so much better in the old days”
We seem to get lots of those.
Political rants and conspiracies are another popular Backstage theme.
