picked up a marshall JCM800 100 watt 2210, not working, very cheap. Opened it up and it has been modded or messed up in a few places. It says 2210 on the back but looking at the schematic https://schematicheaven.net/marshallamp ... w_2210.pdf
it shows an IC CA3046 but there is no IC on the board. The preamp does not match with the 2210 schem. But it does match with the 4210 schematic preamp https://schematicheaven.net/marshallamp ... w_4210.pdf But the transformer numbers are the same as the 2210. So a 4210 pre and a 2210 power amp.
Has anybody seen this before? I would like to try and get this working but Im not sure what schematic to follow. Thanks for any help

You probably have the earlier version of the 2210, but your looking at the later schematic. The earlier 2210 has no switching ic, and uses individual transistors. They also revised the preamp in the later versions. Find the right schematic, for the earlier version 2210, no shit there are 2, and they're different.

It will be worth it when you do. Got mine for 500$ and all it needed was to tighten the rear footswitch jack. itll peel paint

What's the differences between the 2203 100W and the 2210 100W? Effects loop and newer? I see the pre-amp is different too. Always thought the JCM800 series pretty much had the same-ish pre amp. Learn something new everyday...

2103, 2203, 2104, 2204 same preamp, different power amp, 1959, 1987, same preamp, dif pwr amp. 2205 has the same iron as the 2204 etc. In some cases the choke was used for a 50w and a 100w JCM 800, but many 50w amps had the same OT, PT, Choke iron as other 50w amps, same same for 100w.

early 80s 2205 used multiple transistors, later 80s used IC chip. I imagine 2205 has the same history as 2210 with transistors and was likely the inspiration for the 2550 with the LED distortion circuit.
