More Than A Feeling was the lightswitch song, that got 11y.o. me seeking out guitar-centric songs, even though that song is the perfect blend of lyrics/vocals, rhythm, melody, introspection and power
It was no one specific song. But with so much good early 80s guitar oriented music going around at the time, the attraction was obvious. What wasn't so obvious to me at the time was just how hard and how long you'd have to practice to get anywhere near as good as the players I was hearing on the radio or seeing on MTV.
Blasting from my dad's AMC Hornet, I liked Black Betty by Ram Jam. Shortly thereafter I remember Iron Man on a TV program Night Flight, and Def Leppard High n Dry was in there too.
A kid at school gave me copies of the first four VH tapes, and it was all over.
