I just got my JMP 1959HW Super Lead. Hooked up to 2 1960AV cabs, I spent a couple of hours putting it thru it’s paces with a couple of Strats, R7 LP, and a 63’ 335 ( just to see what happens).
In my hands, the Strats are where it’s at. What say you guys?

Strats are ALWAYS where it's at!

Just kidding of course, LP's or other Gibson electrics also sound fantastic through a Super Lead! :thumb:

    Handwired Super lead? VERY cool..Congrats!

I'm a humbucker/LP guy to my very core. NOTHING matches the tone of a good Les Paul into a good Superlead.

I generally just do not like strats. Except into a Superlead. Then, and ONLY then, do I get an overdrive tone out of a strat that I can stand to play.

But any good Les Paul or other humbucker equipped guitar just beats the daylights out of a strat. For me.

5D85F815-5F33-4423-9299-CDA22F5DCFCC.jpeg Well, I did run 2 different Strats thru it. Strat #1 is a new American 60’s Original. Meh...The other is a MIM pieced together junker I built a while back. I put a cheap ass neck and middle position pickup called “DragonSlayers” in it I bought on EBay. Some Chinese crap. And put a Seymore Duncan Hot Rail (humbucker) at the bridge position. I will admit junk Strat # 2 wins hands down. Can’t beat that neck position “throaty” sound and the hot rail rocks.

On if you need to move the cabinet around a lot. Off otherwise.

Depends on how you dial in the amp and what music you're playing. I just got my 1959 about a month ago and love it with all my guitars! I'm jealous I would have loved to get a JMP, mine is a 2000 reissue. :yesway:

Yeah...with just a few twists of the knobs, I can make all of them sound great. I just like the Strat in more cases. I wore out Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys and everything Trower did on my Radio Shack turntable, so, that might have something to do with it.

My favorite vegetable! The bridge humbucker corrects the only thing wrong with Strats.
