Are you playing the amp at low volume alone, or high volume with a band? That usually determines which speaker type is best.
I just played one last night. Great sounding amp. Hopefully I see a used one around soon. I only see the combos.
I don’t think many people think highly of that pedal. Now the original, that’s another story...

I used to run a tube based rack preamp into an ADA FET power amp. Not as nice as a tube amp, but worked out ok.

What's confusing you? Maybe first decide these things:
- Do you want to turn on/off individual effects, versus whole scenes (groups of effects)...
Also remember that diodes can be wired in series, and symmetric vs asymmetric.
Many ODs and distortion pedals sound better through a Fender (Egnater) type amp compared to a Marshall type amp. Different circuits.
Could be an impedance mismatch issue. Out of curiosity, why do you need to use the JMP as a preamp?
If you want transparent attenuation to TV volume then a re-amper (Unleash, Ultimate, Power Station) is your best bet, although the Tone King...
If you want no degradation then you might want a true bypass switcher for those pedals.
