Right on! 2k is a great deal assuming the transformers work, and they probably do. It’s deals like that that keeps us searching!

    JMP tolex repair

I repair tolex tear on my amps and cabs and I think what you have there is the result of some heat being used to stretch the tolex and to make it playable when it was installed. Now when the glue starts to fail it shrinks back. I think I’ld leave it alone. Maybe use a little glue on the edges...

NAD - 1969 Marshall JMP 50 in need of some TLC

I’ve read tolex can withstand paint remover, it that is it would certainly do the trick. What ever you use remember to keep it away from the piping as that may react to it. Good luck! Cool amp!

One of those great days! 1971 Super Tremelo and Super Lead

That’s a great point. I keep a separate album on my phone for my amp projects. I hadn’t thought of it as a way to check someone’s work….

One of those great days! 1971 Super Tremelo and Super Lead

Thanks Neikeel! Do you know where I could source original looking lamps and switches. I forgot where I found the switch replacement for the Super Bass, but it took a lot of looking.

One of those great days! 1971 Super Tremelo and Super Lead

It seems all the good techs have a long backlog. Fortunately, I’ve got a few amps so I’m ok with the wait and I almost need a wait to be able to scratch up more cash to pay for the service.

One of those great days! 1971 Super Tremelo and Super Lead

I checked out Skip’s website and I like his style. He’s close to Sacramento and that’s about 6 hours from me.

One of those great days! 1971 Super Tremelo and Super Lead

I wish I could my head around the electronics like you guys can! I’m very impressed with the knowledge on this forum. Neikeel helped me out on a Super Bass refurbishing big time in the past. I had an inexpensive tech do everything he said after I sourced parts from all over the world. Once that...

One of those great days! 1971 Super Tremelo and Super Lead

For the reasons mentioned I jumped at the opportunity to get the Super Tremolo. I have been watching Super Tremolo’s go for around 5k lately and the amps I bought were 2k each plus $500 for the cab. That’s why I left immediately to pick these up, rather than waiting for a better drive in the...

Please, let’s have the low down! The suspense is killing me. The Super Lead in particular looks messed with.

One of those great days! 1971 Super Tremelo and Super Lead

Interesting….I’ve only had experience with a few techs and so far, my gear has works best after Dixon has worked on it. I’m know there’s other great techs around. So Cal has pretty good resources

One of those great days! 1971 Super Tremelo and Super Lead

I will be taking these to Robert Dixon in Burbank, CA to get dialed in. I got a great deal, so spending money on a great tech works.
