Just picked up a stock 1967 Traynor YBA-3 with the intention of making it a clean , Fender like guitar amp. THe little I know lets me think a few simple changes to input and tone stack would make that happen but I need help. ANy suggestions as to what to replace and what to replace it with (...

Just finished Installing the NFB mod, no time to play with it yet, but very rapid test shows significant headroom augmentation in at least one setting. Still can get the original setting as well so, win win here

I ordered and installed a Jensen P12Q and I am very very pleased ! HAvving much fun with this thing. IT needs getting used to but I am getting great tones both with an L.P and a Gretsch 6120 so far. Now I want to do the Rob Robinette NFB switch mod but I am uncertain about one thing. When I look...

    5E3 sounding dark and dull

Tryed the 4 x 12 It is surprising how much impact speakers have on this amp. I also removed and re installed all tubes, things changed a lot ! Still ordered a Jensen P12Q to replace the Weber alnico signature currently in it. I find it breaks up much to quick and colapses under bass frequencies...

Thanks for that hint on the grid resistors, I'll look those up. Robinette also talks about switchable NFB is that worth investigating ? the Iron only has an 8 ohm tap I believe. I may also try the "tone stack bypass" seems to me that woul provide a boost ... Thread title o guess cannot be...

ideas for Beefing up Traynor YBA-1

O.K. let's try to be more specific. THis was an early 70's Traynor YBA-1. the tone stack has been mdified to JTM45 values and the v1 acthodes have been split with pexi values ( 820/220 and 2k7/.68 ) THe amp has the most beautifull cleans you can dream off ( to my taste ) but I would like it to...

What would be the effect of installing a 47uf bypass cap on the v2a resistor ( in a Marshall type amp ) ? I tried .68 and did not like the result, abit..fizzy" for lack of a better description. there was earlier brakeup and grind but not in a pleasing way at least to my ear. Can I play with...
