At high volume the speaker might flatten out tone wise. Least that's what one of my 412's I had years ago did when I pushed those GB's a bit too hard.
An Eminence GB128 would be great power handling and it's definitely GB voiced. I have a few of them. Haven't been disappointed yet. Price is...
Oh and HNAD JL!
I want to try out the Golden Pearl.
I use the Buxom Boost on my ORI50H and the Smallbox with my 900 green channel.
I hear great things about the Golden Pearl.:agreed:
Have you goosed it with any OD pedals? Clean boost? May want to add some punch with one. I play straight in as well as goose my 50 ORI.
The AY7 in V1 clears up the saturation a bit. Makes it more articulate like a plexi.
I have a 68' Plexi and a 78' 2203 JMP. Fucking great amps. I really like...
Got the Ivory 5150 cab this morning. Sounds great right out of the box. Came with wheels included. Rolled it to its designated spot(next to 5153 412)then rocked it. At VOLUME.:D
Looks great and sounds great. I'll be busy breaking them speakers in. Let ya know how it sounds after the dust...
To my ears any amp that Lyle tests sounds mediocre. I'm not talking about his skill as a guitarist. Strictly the tones he dials in. I'm always left thinking that amp sounds average. I could get that from my Katana. He works on some high end amps too.
I wish after he's done fixing them he'd have...
It works on the 50H but I no attenuate cause don't have too. The tight control works well. And if you want greasy/wooliness lowering the tight knob does the trick. I mean some tunes just need that greasy effect.:agreed:
You could also put a 12AY7 in V1. Clears some of that woolly flub up.
It's got a different voicing over many Marshallz especially the 2 you listed. It's Marshall but has its own thing going. I refer to it as a vintage Marshall rock amp. Love playing it.
I have 3 amps I play regularly. Iconic 5150H, ORI50H and SC 800H. I can't stay away from them. They each offer...
I've got the LPD Seventy 4. I like it. A bit noisy but a noise gate would take care of that. Problem is it sits gathering dust. Will prolly get back to it at some point. Result of having too many choices hehee.
He's why I got the Buxom Boost. I use it on the ORI 50 when I want a bit more punch.
The Smallbox pedal sounds like shit with the Origin but kicks ass with my 900 clone on the green channel.
I've only tried these 2 as far as Friedman pedals go.
I have a blast with mine and I have top end vintage Marshalls that rip. I see shit vids on these and great sounding ones. With quite a bit of separation sound wise.
Dialing an amp in can be weird especially if it is different, not traditional everything at noon to start with and master/gain...
I follow his vids. I like watching him service amps. That's where it stops.
I have heard him play his own amps as well as many of his high end repairs. Do not like tones he dials in or playing. Not putting down his playing. Just missing mileage. Got to play to play. Seems like a great tech...
