The Two-Notes Torpedo Wall of Sound software is a free download for use in a DAW. They make their money selling you cab IR's to use with it. Many are low cost. I bought a few different IR's from them. What I use the most is Michael Nielsen's Big Hairy Cab set which I bought on sale for $39. I...
Yeah, I get it. It's a lot of amp and not one you can get the most of in living situations where you need to keep your volume low.
I have the same issue with a bunch of my amps but something has changed for me in the last year so I'm really glad I didn't sell them off. I'm doing a lot of...
My son was looking for a decent tube amp so I looked on Craigslist and spotted a YGL3 close by for $375 and told him about it. I told him what to look for in the amp and he went to go check it out. The seller had a tech do work on it about 2 years earlier and showed him the receipt. The tech...
Yup, that sounds pretty damn sweet.
I just recapped mine and installed a variable bias last week. I have a Bassman 70, one of the dreaded ultra linear models. They have a balance control on them so if your tubes don't match you can fix that. I found an easy mod for even that model on Rob...
Interesting. You gave me something else to worry about. I was crossing my fingers when I started using it for voltage reasons alone. I really can't open it up to do my recording, I need to work somewhat silently so attenuation is a must. I'm trying not to dump another $250 - $300 on a 4 ohm...
Sorry for the delay. It's been tough getting this video & recording done. I'm absolutely swamped at work and have a million honey do projects going at home but I finally got a chance to throw together a video for this necessary mod project. It's nice to be able to play it without worrying about...
Here's a little background info.
I got a free non-working Bassman 70 a couple of years ago. Someone replaced the power & standby switches and screwed it up then harvested the power tubes and left it in pieces. I fixed it and replaced the tubes early this year and tried it in a little recording...
I placed a parts order yesterday and included some stuff I can use to build some bias probe style test leads with so I can use a couple of DMM's to make monitoring it's vitals easier while adjusting the bias.
Thanks for the kind words brother.
I agree. There was a moment when I included it in my mental list of things I want to sell this year but that's not happening. It's too valuable a tool to have available for situations like I just described.
I totally get you brah.
Here's the weird part about that one, I started with my Bassman and got about halfway in when I started smelling something getting hot and had to shut it down. It was my attenuator, LOL! That amp is a little too much for it when I push it hard with a boost. I...
