Ozzy Era Sabbath - Looking for a recommendation

The Dio era is underrated imho. He's obviously a better vocalist and I feel like the band went some places it wasn't capable of going before. Start with Heaven and Hell and see what you think.

    1960 cab sounds flat

Okay then do a continuity test with you cab wires to the jackplate. If it carries continuity all the way through, you should be getting voltage. Remove each speaker cone and inspect them to make sure one isn't blown out. I highly doubt it has anything to do with your speaker cabinet. Maybe just...

    1960 cab sounds flat

I'm guessing your preamp tubes are going or your jackplate is putting your cab out of phase. Instead of selling any of it, why not just get an amp tech to run a diagnostic on your amp and cab? Having them serviced is normal for any tube setups. I get my JCM 800 and my JMP serviced everytime I...

What OD for JCM 800, and how to a driven amp with a boost for solo

I have a JCM 800 2203. I run a Pussy Melter and a Treble booster. make sure the treble booster is out front of everything. YOu can get a really rich full Marshall punk or 80s metal tone out of that.

    Best Marshall to replace 2205

I'd get the 2203, it is my favorite sound in the JCM 800 run.

Will we lose the sound of traditional amps or what they used to sound like.

My old band once played Gooski's in Pittsburgh while on tour. I cranked my 100w plexi and the other guitarist cranked his 100w JCM 800. We are now known as the loudest band to ever play Gooski's. You don't get an accolade like that by playing through a modeler or clone(well maybe a clone)...

Stolen Mashall 2555SL on Ebay PSA

Seems like you are SOL dude unless you can get the police to issue a warrant . Defintely a felony though. Fraud, theft crossing state lines, defrauding the postal service, etc. Sounds like a real POS person.

    JCM 2000 DSL50 Troubleshooting

Just a little update. Blown output transformer, blown resistor, melted cable, all the tubes need replaced. 320 bucks including labor. bummer!

Everyone post your dream amp! (Marshall or not)

Always wanted the RR setup. With altec speakers of course, hot rodded, cascaded all that jazz. And I'd love to have a pedal board with all his MXR pedals, plus a variac, hotplate/attenuator or master volume mod, and a few pedals thrown in from EVH's setup on the first record to get a RR and EVH...

    JCM 2000 DSL50 Troubleshooting

Yeah I checked the jackplate leads with a multimeter, read 12.5ohms so the wiring was not the issue at all. Took it to a local tech today, $65 for labor if it is just the tubes, maybe more if the transformer or something else went. Not bad considering, hopefully it was just my power tubes. The...

    JCM 2000 DSL50 Troubleshooting

Gotcha, suppose it is time to take it to a tech. Sigh... Its probably the power tubes from playing at high volumes. I'm sure the speakers changing and the tubes going aren't related. I had been pushing the head pretty hard the last few weeks, and I bought the head used so I have no idea when...

    JCM 2000 DSL50 Troubleshooting

They are currently wired like the picture of the 8ohm speakers not the lower 16ohm speaker diagram. Again, my mistake for taking a guys word for it if it is wrong. What i'm asking is, did I blow my power tubes, something else?

    JCM 2000 DSL50 Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I recently upgraded my 4x12 cabinet to x2 WGS British leads and X2 WGS retro 30s. I wired them in parallel 8 ohm fashion because I only have two lead connectors on my cab(I have a vintage style cab). A friend said I could wire them the same as my old 8 ohm speakers. These new ones...

Best brown-style pickup for VH I Ash Franky

Zach, you got the brown tone for sure. What is the EQ settings on that amp? And how many cabs are dry and wet? Thanks I'm trying to achieve a similar brown sound, but for a drop c band. I really hate how synthetic a lot of these newer metal bands are. So i'm mixing some contemporary tone with...

Best brown-style pickup for VH I Ash Franky

You can buy pups, change your speakers, all you want. Maybe you should hand wire your own pickups, that's what he did. He used a variac on his amps too to get more saturation, I think he lowered the voltage to 90v from 110v. That could have very well been misdirection as well, maybe he wanted...

My Rig Alpine White Rig & Chasing Tone

DR DDTs, 12s Maybe I should get some 11s? I ordered some WGS British Leads and WGS Retro 30s. The guys at WGS were really helpfull and pointed me in the right direction. The British leads and the Retro 30s both can handle lower end stuff and bring out the brightness and mids of marshall. I'll...

My Rig Alpine White Rig & Chasing Tone

Maybe I could do a cabinet of one set and a cabinet of the other set of speakers. That way I get smooth and a cut of mid.

My Rig Alpine White Rig & Chasing Tone

The dog is actually a pitbull we rescued about three days before the photo was taken many months back. He is plenty healthy now, we feed him a grain free premium dog food, and we top it off with ground beef or ground turkey. He eats really well and has put on about 15/20 pounds. He is still...

My Rig Alpine White Rig & Chasing Tone

Thanks! I have more plans in the future with it. Hopefully I'll get a alpine white custom les paul. I love the studio but I've always loved that custom. I should have a 4x12 straigh cab soon, just gotta get some spare speakers, jackplate, and order one from sour mash. I also am well aware that...
