    fav amp you own

Well…. I only own 3 amps, none are under 50 watts. Aside from my ‘78 JMP 2104 which is my favorite amp, I’m very fond of my ‘73 fender twin reverb (100 watt), and my Peavey 6505+ combo, which I run into an older 5150 4x12 (60 watt). I’ve got all the bases covered, from blistering compressed Uber...

Best Marshall you can't go wrong. Real Vintage

I have a ‘78 2104… that’s the amp you speak of, and I agree, it’s an amazing amp… but they do have a bias pot inside them.

JCM2000 DSL401 hums after replacing rectifier, Help!

Hey there, see you’ve found the place. I tinkered and troubleshooted my 401 for months on end, and in the end did exactly as you did…. Bought another amp. (A peavey at that just like you!) A big part of that decision was based on the fact that I always needed some kind of pedal to get it to...

    Best bedroom amp

This.... My JMP 2104 sounds good at 1 or 5... and my twin reverb Is strictly a clean amp, so both get used at lower volume all the time. If it’s got a master volume, it’s bedroom friendly. I opted for these two higher power amps. I may not gig and play out now, but I’ll have what I need if I...

    Best bedroom amp

While it’s technically not in my bedroom, I use two amps with an aby between them. First is a 73 twin reverb, strictly as a clean amp, so I don’t need to crank it. Second is a 78 JMP 2104 50 watt with a master volume. Again, it’s mv and sounds good to me whether it’s on .5 or on 5... Most of...

    Vintage Impedence Selector Question

Safety concerns like a non polarized plug and death cap I wouldn’t see as “modifications” per se. I have a ‘73 twin that I got cheap but was modified internally (blackface spec) as well as having a proper ground/death cap removed. My 78 JMP on the other hand hasn’t been modified in any way...

    Vintage Impedence Selector Question

I agree with this... did this with my 78 JMP as I went out of my way to find a 100% unmodified amp.

I have to rant. Vintage parts and new builds...just stop it.

Looking for nos piher? Just sourced a few to replace a few resistors in my JMP that got changed out. Glad to point you in his direction.

    Vintage Impedence Selector Question

Most importantly @Chrome I can confirm it in fact fits, but only for that particular switch. That schurter switch has a little indent at the top that locks it into place. Original screw holes and everything.
