Hi, I see that you have a lot of knowledge about amps. I have a question: one amp builder said that it is easier on caps and tubes if you turn the Standby on first, then the Power switch - would you agree with that?
Sorry - not a bit of the forum I was aware of. I tend to switch on both at same time. My Oranges and Voxes only have one switch. Main point for debate is whether having your output tubes biased before seeing full HT is essential. I read good and bad both ways. I don’t really stress about it.
Hi Neikeel, I am looking for some vintage mica caps to restore my '68 JMP50. Can you help? I hope you remember me from PP!! Thanks, Bret
Hi Neikeel, Many thanks for all your help with my transformer issue. I've spoken to Majestic Transformer and they are now selling your modified transformer for £170. I think manufactures understand the prices these vintage amps are fetching and wanting a slice of the cake! Best regards Geoff.
That is pretty steep IMO. Grab one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mains-Power-Transformer-for-Plexi-JTM45-JTM50-JMP50-Marshall-Valve-Amplifier/121971318099?hash=item1c660e9d53:g:12QAAOSwd0BVskrv
Hi neikeel, If can still find that replacement transformer for the JMP50, I would be interested to know how much you want for it please. I live in North Yorkshire. Regards Geoff.
Just seen this section of the forum! No idea it was here! I thought conversations were the method of messaging here?
