Strange phase problem
When I hit the low E on my guitar, my MkII combo puts out a strange phasing sound.
Is there anything that could cause this with the amp? or is it more likely that I've got some crossed wiring with my pickups? |

If the sound you're describing kinda sounds like a ring modulator in the background of the note then your problem is most likely to be failing filter caps. If your amp is 15 years or more it would benefit from a filter cap change anyway, and that's the first place I would start. Low notes draw more power from the supply and so failing filter caps generally tend to show up in the low notes more.

Re: Strange phase problem
its a 1979, but was apparently fully serviced before i bought it. i'll have a look at my pickup wiring, as i have a feeling that the problem lies there.
if not then i'll get the caps checked out. cheers for the advice. |
