Re: Video of the Mullard Factory (Historic)

I hope you guys are getting some use out of this. It is a bit old but you can see where Mullard excelled in the processing.

Re: Video of the Mullard Factory (Historic)

i watched it earlier today...gives a great insight to how they were made
i'll tell you one thing...i doubt that machinery would be used today with all the safety concerns and osha (occupational saftey &health administration) as its called here in the states....shame they kept expanding at that rate only to have valves go damn near extinct in such a short period of time
now i know what a getter is and what it does
but it leaves me with one question...do all these "double o getter" valves i see on ebay have any tone benefits? or was it just an additional precaution at the factory to ensure the quality of the tube or life expectancy?

You know I heard some Chinese company bought a bunch of the original Mullard Machinery!

On the Dual & triple getter thing technically it just better stray gas containment. But I guess if you have a purer environment in the bulb the tube runs better, so therefore may sound better. MartyStrat 54 would know for sure.
