are they good, i read somewhere that they still use valves in all sorts of stuff....
i placed a bid on four EL84's for my DSL401 but i'm unsure whether they're OK for it as in the description it says 'approximately equivalent to the 6P14P, 6BQ5, EL84' and they're new old stock and made Made by Reflector factory... i was lucky enough to 'win' them for the opening bid (99pence) with a tenner for shipping.. can anyone say whether they will be OK for my amp or should i get something different?? >>>EBAY TUBES<<< regards, john

Re: Valves from russia???
Says 'made by Reflector' factory. ?? Russian tubes are supposed to be good, though.
Bump.

Re: Valves from russia???
Russian tubes, better than Chinese tubes.
I'm not too thrilled about either country though. I still get mine from Eastern Europe but nothing from the Russian Federation and absolutely no Chinese tubes.

Re: Valves from russia???
hi
i just googled for the 6P43P-E and found that it is similar to an EL86??? looking bad ![]() EL84-6BQ5 6P43P-E Reflector Russia Sometimes the 6P43P-E is reprinted and sold as an EL84. This type is not a direct equivalent of the EL84, it is more like the EL86. Uf= 6.3V, If= 0.625A, Ua= 185V, Ua peak=2.5kV, Ia= 45mA, S= 7.5mA/V, Pa+g2= 14W. X john ![]()

Re: Valves from russia???
Looks like you'll have to wait to get them and them post some pics.
At least you didn't pay too much for em.

Re: Valves from russia???
From what i gather they are the same spec tube as the 6p14p ( which would be ok in your dsl ) but with much lower plate voltage @ only 185v so they'll probably fry.
I picked up 8 x 6p6s( 6v6 ) for some projects at £20 delivered from ukraine & must say they sound much better than i expected, the first pair i picked out biased up as a close matched pair & are running above the spec voltages quite happily ( 380v on plates & a few volts less on the screens ). Just in the process of trying to kill em by running them for a few hours a day flat out through a speaker sim, so far so good. |

would it help if i fitted a couple of 100mm cooling fans to the back of the amp or would they fry due to voltage rather than heat build up?? cheers, john

Re: Valves from russia???
The plate voltage i believe is around 400v on your dsl , way beyond the spec of the 6p43p.
I wouldn't have thought any amount of cooling would stop them tubes from frying at that voltage. Most guitar amps run their tubes above spec but i think that might be, in the words of Bon Scott "a touch too much" |

Re: Valves from russia???
The Reflektor factory (now known as the Xpo-pul factory) is the same factory that New Sensor uses to make their Sovtek, ElectroHarmonix, and now Svetlana line of valves. A word on Svetlana - the valves bearing the Svetlana name that were manufactured post-2003 are nowhere near the same as the actual Svetlana valves that were made prior to 2003. What we originally knew Svetlana as is now SED Winged =C= (ironically, SED stands for Svetlana Electron Devices).
SED Winged C is still Svetlana everywhere else except the US and Canada because New Sensor bought all rights to the Svetlana name in the US and Canada only. So if you want the same valves that were the exact same as the old pre-2003 Svetlanas, go with SED Winged =C=. Any valve marketed post-2003 under the name Svetlana is made in the Xpo-pul/Reflector factory right along with Sovtek and ElectroHarmonix. And if you come across a Svetlana 12AX7, those are DEFINITELY a "New Sensor/Reflektor/Xpo-pul" valve and there's NO WAY it ever came from the St Petersburg SED factory since SED never manufactured a preamp valve (they only do power and rectifier valves).
