Weird blue flash from my 6100LM?

Hello

prepare for a long read...

I've got two 6100LM's, one of which is/was functioning fine up until yesterday morning. What happened was, I have to replace the OT in my other 6100LM, so I had to get the codes from this one, blah blah blah..anyhow. I simply took the chassis out, looked at the OT sticker, put the chassis back in, turned the amp on...ran it for about three minutes.

I cranked it to about 6 on the volume to make sure it was OK (I usually have it at about 3, though) and boom...a blue flash from the back of the amp. There was also a pop from the speakers. Turned it off quickly (it was still running).

I checked the tubes. all seemed fine. checked the external fuses. all fine. I opened the chassis, didn't see anything burnt up etc (and I looked everywhere). internal fuses were still fine. I turned it back on with the same tubes, and it seemed to work fine, although there was a lack of output. I tried some new power tubes, and the output seemed to have came back somewhat.

It has been running fine since (used it for about half and hour so far), but I'm still a bit confused with this situation. What do you lot reckon? bad tube? or something internal? I honestly don't know, it seemed that the flash came from the tube area, but I'm not 100%. do bad tubes usually give off a blue flash?..cause I've only had one tube go bad on me before, but I didn't actually see it. (the back of the amp was facing me this time).

Thanks for reading (if you've managed to get through the whole thing )

Re: Weird blue flash from my 6100LM?

A blue flash is often caused by something shorting to the chassis. I would check your transformer wiring again, and look for burn marks.
