jcm900 4500 switchn from 5881's to el34's
hey all,
i got a jcm900 4500 (50w) hi-gain dual reverb head w/ 5881's and i wanna switch to el34's. what brand tube would you fellow jcm900 owners recommend, my sound is classic rock w/ a shake or 2 of medern-zep, sabbath, clapton, jimi, w/ rage against the machine, godsmack, wolfmother. I heard good things about the ri mullard, elctro harms, gt's, jj's, svetlana''s & tung-sol but cant decide! I run thru a pedal board that consists of BigMuff pi-NY made, boss blues driver & mxr wylde o/d - that consists of my pedal distortion. cheers! |

As you only have to buy two, why don't you start with the Electro harmonix as you can get them fairly cheaply off ebay. Then, in a year or so, you could buy another set, say groove tubes. Then compare and contrast, and you'll know which you prefer in future... see if your local music shop has a variety of valve amps with different valves inside if you wanna hear them before buying,
