Flipping a grill coth????

Well, has anybody done this to an old basketweave grill cloth? I read somewhere that someboby had either a dirty or faded grill cloth and turned it around to get the clean side but I can't seem to find the article or post. Has anybody heard of this or done it?

I would leave it alone, a dirty grill cloth adds character, looks cool and it's not worth damaging the cloth to do it. If you don't like the dirty grill cloth change it and send me the old one, LOL

It's actually faded. Not dirty at all. It was cleaned and faded slightly in the process.

I've never tried flipping one around, put a lot of new ones on, but it shouldn't be too hard. It is easier if you have some help. It already has bends in it so you have a good guide to follow. As long as it is in good shape, (not too fragile from age) give it a go. Let us Know how it turns out.

If you changed out grille cloths, then you know there is a boatload of staples to take out. This is a task I can do without. Not only is the grille cloth stapled, but the edging is stapled on top of the grille cloth. If you do not have new edging (piping), then you will have to be careful to save it. Once you got all of this off, the grille cloth is easy to lay down with some 3M spray adhesive or equivalent. However you are going to need and air stapler to run staples back into that pressboard. I don't think an electric will work, unless it's a real heavy duty model. When I changed my 602 over to cane cloth, I was glad I had an air stapler.
